Solution 1: If an Error Happens When Creating a Data File Backup

  1. Go to the server computer.

  2. Run QuickBooks.

  5. Right-click and click on “new folder”. Rename the folder as “QB test.”

  6. Next, create a backup for your company data file.

  1. Open QuickBooks.

  2. Click File menu > Utilities -

    1. Skip the “host multi-user access” option.

    2. Select “stop hosting multi-user access.”

  1. Choose “Host multi-user access” after repeating the steps.


Solution 4: Run QuickBooks file doctor to remove the error

  1. Download the QuickBooks tool hub program.

  2. Follow onscreen instructions. 

  3. Finish the installation.

  4. Run QuickBooks file doctor tool under the company file issues tab.

  1. It will scan for server errors and fix them. 

  2. Restart the computer. 


Solution 4: Check permissions to access the QB Company file.

  1. Go to the setup folder.

  2. Check file permission and allow sharing of QB files.

  3. To place permissions to share company files, select “Set Windows.”


Solution 7: Use QB Database Server Manager

  1. Select start menu > Programs > QuickBooks> QuickBooks database server manager.

  2. Tap “Add folder” and select all folders containing QB files.

  2. Go to every folder having QB company files. Make sure every file has .qbw and .nd files.
