Visit Important Islamic Sites with November Umrah Packages
by Safeena Rahman Travel AddictThe Islamic pilgrimage of Umrah is also known as the
‘lesser pilgrimage’ or the ‘minor pilgrimage’ as the major pilgrimage is Hajj.
It is obligatory for all Muslims to perform Hajj at least once in their
lifetime if they are physically and financially capable. Performing Umrah is
not an obligation for Muslims, but it is of great significance for them, as it
is the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Hajj can be undertaken
only in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, but the lesser pilgrimage can be performed
at any time of the year.
Some of the Muslims residing in the United Kingdom
choose to perform their Umrah
in November and to make this happen, they rely on the packages for
the minor pilgrimage offered by several travel companies based in the country.
Most of these companies specialise in the religious tours of Hajj and Umrah and
have many years of experience in helping numerous Muslims of the country fulfil
their dream of performing these pilgrimages. Such packages not only help them
perform their lesser pilgrimage without any hassles but also give them enough
time to explore some of the important Islamic sites located in and around
Makkah.
One of them is a unique mosque near the Jannat
al-Mu’alla, which is known as the Masjid al-Jinn or the ‘Mosque of the Jinn’.
The ‘jinn’ or ‘genies’ are spirits or demons that existed in the early Arabian
era according to Islamic theology. The Masjid al-Jinn has been built at a place
where a group of jinn had gathered to hear Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
recite a part of the Holy Quran one night. Later, they embraced Islam when
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) met with the leader of this group and
accepted their oath of allegiance. With the November Umrah packages, the pilgrims would get the opportunity to
visit this mosque, which is one of Makkah’s important mosques.
The opportunities for Umrah November month offer for the UK Muslims can be a wonderful
blessing for them, as they can book any of their desired packages and visit the
important places during their stay in the holy city. Besides the Masjid
al-Jinn, there is yet another mosque that the pilgrims would like to visit.
This mosque is the Masjid-e-Taneem, which is located at a distance of about 5
miles from the Holy Kaabah. It is also known as Masjid-e-Ayesha, as it was here
that Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) wife Ayesha (may Allah be pleased
with her) had entered the state of ‘ihram’.
Mount Abu Qubais is yet another important site worth
visiting for the Muslims of the UK who are in Makkah to perform Umrah. It is
located on the eastern frontier of the holy city and is considered to be a
sacred mountain. Many believe that it was called Al Amin during the days when
the region was inhabited by pagan Arabs. According to the Islamic traditions,
this is the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had performed the
miracle of splitting the moon into two halves and then joining them together
again.
