Tips to writing better articles

Select a topic that interests you to concentrate on it for at least a couple weeks. If your topic is wide, narrow it. Rather than writing about how to decorate your house, consider covering the best way to decorate your house in country fashion on a shoestring budget. That is more special and, as such, simpler to handle.

Then compose a tough, rough draft, including all you can consider. Stay loose, prevent becoming analytical, and revel in the practice of discussing what you know. When you are finished, you will have the bare bones of a post that you can compose.

Now, return to your own piece. Switch gears and imagine you are the reader of the report. Pick three words to describe the viewer that you would like to tackle (e.g., professionals, single guys). You may not understand the answers yet, but listing the questions anyhow; you will find answers in the next step.

Research will ground your essay actually. Superior details to include to your how-to are:

Statistics

Quotes by famous individuals

Definitions

Anecdotes (brief, illustrative tales about your self or somebody else)

Quotes and illustrations from folks such as the reader or out of popular novels on the topic

References to additional media (film, tv, radio)

Handy tools, sources or goods (if most, look at developing a sidebar)

References to nearby places or events (if to get a regional/local book).

Collect whatever you've accumulated and place it in a folder, a digital document, a laptop or anything you enjoy. Do not forget to keep an eye on resources in the event you are later asked by an editor to confirm them. You might choose to sift through your study in another sitting from collecting it. Or just go ahead and scatter your study right when you locate it. It is much like cooking--play till you believe you have it "just perfect."
