Punching is a forming process which uses a punching press tool which is known as a punch machine. It is usually used to create holes through the workpiece while the shearing process to create holes. The process of punching is applicable in all types of materials starting from sheet formlike sheets of metal, papers, fiber which is vulcanized to a few forms of plastic sheets.
The punch made using a die punching machine usually passes through the work into a die. The scrap slug which is extracted from the hole is deposited inside the die during the process. However, it depends entirely on the material which is being punched. In some cases, the material is also recycled and used again later for further purposes. In short, discarding and reusing of the slug entirely depends upon the material which will be punched.
Punching is regarded as one of the cheapest method, which is meant for making holes in the smooth surface starting from medium to high production volumes. Sometimes, people also go in for making up a particular shaped point to create multiple usable parts out of the sheet of the material. This particular process is known as blanking.
In the case of forging metal, the application makes use of hot punching. In this method, the work is punched when hot to form the right kind of holes. Slugging is also considered as a part of the operation of punching. In this process, the punch is stopped once the metal fracture is complete. However, instead of removing the metal, it is held in the hole for a fixed period.

Various Types Of Die Cutting Processes:

Coming to the various kinds of die cutting operations, we have:
Bending: This is the basic process which is utilized for deforming the basic material through pressure received from the die.
• Blanking: Blanking is the process which is meant for cutting the flat material by trimming the surface from the exterior edges. The die which is used in this process helps in creating a uniform compression to create the required degree of flatness.
• Broaching: The idea of broaching die is quite a useful option which is used for shaping the material quickly and efficiently.
• Bulging: The bulging fluid based die makes use of water or oil as a medium for expanding a part whereas the bulging rubber die used helps in harnessing a rubber block to deform a work piece.
• Coining: It is a type of stamping procedure which is used to punch proper circle shaped holes with the help of material. It helps in making cuts by putting in pressure and force, which allows in clamping a proper punch and die. It is highly intricate with precise product features.

Apart from these, cut off, drawing, extrusions, forming, etc., are also undertaken in a series so that a perfect punching can be done. Several die punching machine manufacturers are working in the market. So, try to get the best quality machine for your business and gain value for the money invested.
