What is a Masterbatch

A masterbatch is nothing but a concentrated mixture of different kinds of additives as well as pigments. This mixture is encapsulated using a heating technique. Once it cools down, it is made in the shape of granules. The masterbatch granules, like Talc masterbatch are thus made. They are uses in plastic manufacturing for the purpose of adding color.

Resins and additives

There are two types of polymer resins that are used in this process. One is a carrier resin. Talc masterbatch

Talc masterbatch is masterbatch that makes use of fine talc powder. The ultrafine property of talc compound makes it ideally suited for use in this type of masterbatch. The talc added increases the heat resistance and also makes it rigid and tough. In the plastic manufacturing process, fine talc compound in the masterbatch is added to the plastic before creating the end product. This is beneficial giving it properties like:

Making it more stiff
It is creep resistance
It increases the hardness of the surface
It is scratch resistant
It is heat resistant
It has an anti blocking effect
It is translucent
It imparts a paper like feel to the granules.
