by Mansi L. Be happyThe
Government of the National Capital Territory launched the Switch Delhi campaign
with a mission to make Delhi the EV capital of India, a step towards a cleaner
and greener planet.
Switch
Delhi campaign aims to inform, encourage and
motivate the citizens of Delhi about the benefits of electric vehicles and
urges them to shift from their polluting vehicles to zero-emission electric
vehicles. Delhi’s EV policy is considered one of the most progressive policies
around the world as its vision is to improve air quality and to become one of
the top cities globally in terms of EV adoption. The government aims to have 1
out of every 4 vehicles be EV by 2024.
Benefits of Electric Vehicles (EVs)
- Less maintenance
- Easy to charge
- More savings
- No noise pollution
- Reduce oil imports
- Cleaner air
In order to reduce the footprint
of heat-trapping gas like carbon-di-oxide and to create an extensive network of
EV charging stations, Delhi Government has urged several big companies, food
delivery aggregators, malls, and cinema halls to set up electric charging
solutions in the parking space to promote Delhi government electric vehicle
policy. The government has directed all commercial establishments having a
parking capacity of 100 or more vehicles to reserve 5 percent of their parking
space for EVs with suitable electric vehicle chargers with a minimum output of
3.3KW.

Vehicular pollution in Delhi is one of the major sources of pollution in the National Capital. The current Delhi Government is taking progressive measures to restore the air quality. A push towards EVs would help curb the high levels of pollutants by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this lieu, Tata Power-DDL is supporting the central government’s ‘National Electric Mobility Mission’ and the Delhi Government’s vision of promoting electric vehicle adoption and establishing Delhi as the EV capital of India. Tata Power-DDL is also facilitating the establishment of public charging stations and battery swapping in its licensed area.
