Switch Delhi Campaign launched to promote EV policy, Tata Power-DDL provides subsidy
by Mansi L. Be happyThe Government of the National Capital Territory launched Switch Delhi Campaign to educate the citizens of Delhi to switch from their conventional vehicles to electric vehicles.
The awareness campaign started with the aim to
generate awareness of EVs among the citizens of Delhi and the Government’s
electric vehicle policy to increase the uptake
of EVs using the provisions made by the government.
As a step towards improving
Delhi’s air quality and creating a supply-chain ecosystem of electric vehicles,
this EV policy has been regarded as one of the most progressive policies
globally. The Delhi EV policy is a combination of fiscal and non-fiscal
incentives.
The fiscal incentive structure
comprises scrapping incentive on the de-registration of old vehicles, purchase incentive, and interest waivers whereas
the non-fiscal incentives address the issue of green-registration plates,
road-tax waivers, single-window clearances, and license-free waivers.
