How to Update the BIOS on HP Notebook PCs?

Updating the BIOS is also known as "flashing the BIOS," replaces the BIOS firmware. Once it completed, a BIOS update can fix or improve aspects of a computer's performance. It provides support for newly installed hardware. Before updating the BIOS, you need to disable the Bit locker-
Firstly you need to search for Control Panel and then open it.
Then you have to click “System and Security”.
Now, you need to click BitLocker Drive Encryption and then click Suspend protection.
Click “Yes” to suspend protection if it is prompted.
At last, you have to “Resume” protection.

Step 1- Finding the current BIOS version number:
In order to search the current BIOS version, you need to go with the steps given below-
You need to search for msinfo32.exe in Windows, and click msinfo32.exe in the list of results.
Then, look for the BIOS Version/Date entry under the System Summary category in the System Information window
At last, simply write down the BIOS version and then go to the next section to find the processor type.

Step 2- Finding the processor type:
Most of the computers have more than one of the processor over the course of their manufacturing lifetime. A different processor might require different BIOS. Here, you need to check that which processor is installed on your computer and then compare it to the documentation in your BIOS download.
To verify which processor is installed on your computer, check out the following steps given below-
Again search for the msinfo32.exe in Windows and then click msinfo32.exe in the list of results.
Then you have to search for the Processor entry in the System Information window under the System Summary category.
Then you have to write down the processor information same as the previous steps. Take your time to make sure that the BIOS you are going to install is compatible to be used with your specific processor. Here, you need to continue with finding and downloading BIOS updates.

Step 3- Finding and downloading BIOS updates:
In order to find and download the BIOS updates for your computer, you need to find the specific product number on your computer.
First of all, you need to go to the HP Software & Driver Downloads webpage.
Then simply navigate to the product page for your computer model.
Choose the operating system on your computer and then click “Submit”.
The webpage lists the available updates for your computer. If a BIOS category is listed, select BIOS.
In the next step, you need to click “More details” to view the overview, installation instructions, and system requirements for the BIOS update.
At last, you need to click Download, click “Save” as to save the file to a convenient location, such as your desktop.

Step 4- Installing the BIOS update:
Here, you need to connect the AC power supply to the Notebook PC’s. Ensure that you do not disconnect the power supply during the BIOS update process.
Then, simply close any open programs and disable your antivirus temporarily. Do not forget to re-enable the antivirus software once you complete the installation.
Now, simply locate the BIOS file that you downloaded and saved to a convenient location on your computer.
In the next step, you have to double-click the file in order to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
At last, you need to wait for the installation to complete. Once the installation is completed simply restart the computer when prompted.
