So, you’ve finally decided that you are going to buy an RO water purifier for your family’s health needs, and after exploring a variety of options you managed to finalize and purchase a purifier that fits your budget, meets your requirements and you absolutely love it. But, then comes a point where you begin wondering about something - what if, you water purifier stops functioning at its optimum level, suddenly? How would you know - what can you do to prevent it from getting spoiled?

These are questions every first purchaser of the best RO water purifiers face, after they use their products for a while. It is then that they need to learn more about how they could maintain their purifier well, so the filter doesn’t get jammed too often, and the purifier stays working well long enough. In this blog, we bring you five tips to maintain your best RO water purifier, well - at home, all by yourself.

  1. Keep the exteriors clean: It is as important to keep the exteriors of your best RO water purifier clean, as it is to keep the inner machinery working and clean. With a clean piece of soft cloth, wipe the outside of the water purifier unit regularly, and make sure that there is no fungus growing on the dirty water discharge pipe. Make sure you also clean the tap and the smaller parts that are easy to miss out on - with a damp clean cloth, at least one every few days.
  2. Clear the filter: The filter collects all the dirt and impurities that are taken out of your drinking water, to deliver only the highest quality drinking water for your consumption. This filter needs to be cleaned regularly, so it is clear and does the job of filtration effectively, as long as you use the water purifier with copper tank.
  3. Fix drips and leakages: Minor breakages and leakages in your RO water purifier unit could cause major trouble in delivering good quality water. Also, water that drips and accumulates leads to the growth of funguses, and when accumulated long enough, could also foster disease-causing mosquitoes that breed in stagnant water. Dampness also causes a spreading of a variety of viruses and bacteria, leading you to a range of illnesses that you do not want. Fixing these issues early on will lead you to have better control over how well the machine performs in the long-run.
  4. Copper needs special care: Your water purifier with copper tank need special card as they differ from the stainless steel tanks in a variety of ways. Avoid abrasive products that might react with the copper metal to result in undesirable effects, and reduce the life of your product, while also making it more difficult for it to clean your water effectively.
  5. Regular servicing: Do not forget that any water purifier with copper tank, or otherwise, will need a proper professional servicing at least once every six months. Contact your pureit service provider to schedule a regular servicing at home, done at a time that is convenient for you.
  6. Avoid harsh chemicals and bleaches: As a thumb rule, do not use any harsh, strong chemicals or bleaches to clean your water purifier unit, as they tend to react with the base material and leave unwanted effects on the product that could seep into the water and make it not only less purified but also infinitely more dangerous for consumption. Some chemicals when mixed into your drinking water could cause instant poisoning and severe effects including vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach upset.

Whether you’re using a UV based water purifier or an RO water purifier with copper tank, regular maintenance is crucial for the proper upkeep of your product. With our tips, you are now better informed about how to maintain your water purifier.

Safe water to you, and your family!
