Foods that facilitate IVF implantation

by Raman K. Author

There are many couples these days that rely heavily on In-Vitro fertilization to get pregnant and have babies. In fact, it is considered one of the most potent options for the assisted form of reproduction once the implantation stage is reached, that is, the embryo gets watched to the uterine wall, not much can be controlled further and if the health of the embryo is maintained, pregnancy happens without any problem. However, there are certain food products that can facilitate this process of implantation in more than one way.

These foods can actually help in proper implantation even if the odds are a little less. Yams, pineapples, and walnuts are a few commonly used food products for this process and have gained a lot of popularity as well. Though there is no scientific concrete evidence for the same, there are a number of clinical examples that depict the effectiveness of the food.

Walnuts

These nuts look like the brain and have always been rumored to be very good for memory and mental health. Its application in the treatment of infertility has also been discussed for a really long time with the Greeks using it as a potent drug since time immemorial. The omega 3 fatty acids that are present in large quantities in walnuts have a role to play in this function. This healthy type of fat stimulates the sex hormones in the body and also has a role to play in regulating the menstrual cycle. Along with it, walnuts also contain important nutrients that assist in the implantation as well. Its ability to help the egg get implanted on the wall has been heavily debated for quite some time now, though there is no scientific evidence for it.

Pineapples

The use of pineapples has also been advocated for the above-mentioned purpose. The bromelain that is present in pineapple has been noted to be the component of interest in pineapples and it is also present in more quantities only in this fruit. The anti-inflammatory activity and the ability to increase the viscosity of the cervical mucus are being attributed as the two main reasons why it is used. This makes the cervical region sticky that can help in implantation. Since most of the bromelain is acquired from the core of the fruit, it is recommended to eat the whole fruit for best results.

Yams

The potency of yams can be judged by the fact that the Ibeji tribe that consume yams almost every day have the highest fertility rate, especially in the case of fraternal twins. The chemicals in yams mimic estrogen and progesterone and they not only help in producing more eggs during their cycle but also help in faster and more effective implantation.

Balanced diet

Though some of the specialized foods are mentioned, there is no substitute for consuming a balanced diet for best results with respect to implantation. Make sure that you have all the necessary nutrients and supplement it with proper exercise and yoga in order to increase the chances of implantation in IVF.
