Are There Any Reasons To Say No To A New Website? - Pennink Productions

by Liz Seyi Digital marketing manager

Of course, I’m being a little cheeky with the title to this blog post. Even as one of the leading website design companies in the UK here at PENNInk Productions, we wouldn’t tell you that you need to be constantly arranging for your perfectly good existing website to be comprehensively redesigned or replaced.

This, in turn, might beg the question… why would we discourage you from having a new website built for your organisation, especially when that might represent an opportunity for us?

Here are a few examples of circumstances in which that might be the case.

Sometimes, you don’t need to replace absolutely everything

Even if you’re thinking seriously about investing in a new website for your business, it is important to ask yourself exactly what might be wrong with your current online presence, and what specific course of action you may therefore be advised to take.

You might think, for instance, that your existing site looks terrible, or even outdated – and that can easily happen, particularly if it’s been a few years since you even paid much attention to the design of your site.

But it may also be the case that your current site is performing well in the search engines, and getting a good number of relevant enquiries. In that case, it might be better to move your site’s existing content to a new site that is easier on the eye and more up to date. Even then, though, we would urge you to be careful, as I will explain further below.

Look to improve – but don’t lose what’s already making you successful!

Sadly, we hear all too often about business owners who approached other website design companies in the UK, and were convinced to make a dramatic change that turned out to be counterproductive for their business.

It might sometimes be the case, for example, that someone with an already very effective WordPress site is persuaded to make the move to an alternative platform. But the website design firm they choose doesn’t even transfer over the existing impactful content to the new site, or redirect the old URLs to the new ones. As a consequence, that particular brand loses its previous search rankings and is effectively forced to start over again.

Whatever we might do for you when you partner with the PENNInk Productions team, we don’t want you to lose what made your brand a success online in the first place.

So, whether we’re transferring your site to another platform (and we think you’d struggle to beat the sheer flexibility and search engine friendliness of WordPress in any case!) or performing much more subtle design tweaks to your present site, we work hard to make sure you don’t surrender your previous hard-earned gains when you choose us.

The tear-it-all-down approach isn’t always the right one

The circumstances of every online business are different to the next, of course, and it might be that a thoroughly ‘out with the old, in with the new’ strategy does work better for you, when it comes to your next website redesign or refresh.

However, the same bottom-line principle remains; any website design work you request needs to be tailored to the situation and needs of your brand, instead of simply representing an opportunity for a web design company to earn a nice fee. Choosing a firm that will listen carefully to you, and even advise you on what website design work not to do, will greatly benefit your business in the long run.

For an honest conversation about your brand’s needs and expectations with one of the premier website design companies in the UK, please do not hesitate to call or email our team today.
