5 ways to increase the affordability of an international relocation

by Paul Rudd Search Engine Optimization

When moving internationally, there is a lot of work you have to do. You should start making a list on what needs to be done before, say, moving to India from Canada and what you must carry to your new home. But the cost of an international move is more than what you’d expect when you add up miscellaneous costs. Here’s how to spend less and still have a good moving experience:

Start early:

Once you have decided that you will be house shifting to India, start planning and organising your move at the earliest. You have a lot of things to do- booking relocation services from Canada to India like Writer Relocations to help move your household items from one country to another, select a new house, and learn about your new country of residence.

Choose sea freight instead of air freight:

When you’re storage moving from Canada to India, shipping is only one of the many things that cost a lot. If you have the option, we suggest that you choose shipping by sea rather than air. Sea freight is cheaper. Plus, you can move more goods by sea freight. In most cases ships take more time to reach their destination than planes. So if you are opting for sea freight to decrease your expenditure, you should ship it early on in your moving process.

Booking flights:

For a cost effective move, you should be careful when you book your flights. By this we don’t mean that you book your flight tickets as early as possible. There is a right time to book them if you don’t want to purchase overpriced tickets. Off peak season is a good time to buy cheap tickets. In fact moving off season is cheaper than peak season moving. For long distance flying, it is recommended that you book your tickets 18 weeks before the date you want to move on.

Sort through your things

Early in the process of household shifting from Canada to India, you should know what you want to carry along to your new home and what you want to leave behind. Don’t spend money on shipping things you don’t want in your new home. Instead donate it in a garage sale or sell it online to people who need it more than you do. Be brutal while selecting which item to take with you and which to leave behind. If you don’t get a certain thing at a good price in the country you are moving to, then take it with you.

Groupage shipments

If you have managed to minimize the size of your list of belongings by throwing or donating things you don’t need, then your goods can share space with other people’s belongings. This is, obviously, cheaper than having a separate container just for yourself. In sea freight, if your cargo is less than twenty cubic meters then you should opt for a shared container.
