by Eva Spenser Innovation

Either you have moved into a new house, or you no longer like the wallpaper that is on your walls, removing them can be a very hectic task. Well, you may know of the fact especially when you have tried doing it once and have been unsuccessful, and that is the reason why you are here.

When spoken to installers for wallpaper in Perth, everyone came up with something different that was based on their experiences at work and the task of removing wallpapers. Here are a few of them brought together for you to understand what it takes to remove a wallpaper smoothly without having to go through the trouble.

Get Your Room Ready for the Wallpaper Removal

Anything coming your way during the removal process can be disturbing and time-consuming. Therefore, be calm and start with removing everything right from wall hangings, lamps, sockets, switches and anything else that adorns the walls. Tape the socket holes and ensure that nothing is coming your way. Also remove furniture that is pushed to the wall. If it cannot be taken out, try putting them together in the middle of the room so that your wall area is free for you to work upon.

Use a Scraper to Check the Condition of the Wall

It may be so that there are multiple layers of wallpaper underneath and that you need to remove them all. Therefore, you need to check with a scraper by removing it from the edge and then knowing of the work that you will have to undertake. The scraper also gives you an idea of whether you will be able to remove the wallpaper from its place or not. If things are impossible, you will simply have to paste the new one over the existing layer.

See if It is a Vinyl Wallpaper

If the wallpaper you intend to peel is made up of vinyl, it will peel off easily when you tug at it from the edge and pull it towards you. When it doesn’t, it means there is a strong adhesive keeping it back from peeling, and that is when you need to take up other measures to remove it. It may ruin the wall, but then you have no other option. You will have to re-do and smoothen the wall before you apply the new wallpaper.

See if It is a Vinyl Wallpaper

If the existing wallpaper is difficult to remove, you need to soak it for it to become soft and easy to remove. Therefore, slit the wallpaper in places and create a mixture containing warm water and a liquid detergent. Experts on installation of wall mural in Perth suggest applying this with a sponge on the slit areas, and you can watch it getting soaked and soft.  This allows smooth removal of the paper and that you do not have to tug at it or put in extra effort to remove the difficult to remove wallpaper.

Removing the adhesive

The wallpaper adhesive is sometimes difficult to remove, and that is when you need to take up necessary steps for complete removal. Only then will your new wallpaper be able to find a place. Use a mixture of water, vinegar and liquid soap to rub on the adhesive.
