What separates the 3 percent from the 97 percent?

by Andy Anderson Owner Yuma Bloggers
Fact, taking a look at the thousands of faces on Apsense today, 90% will make little or no money online.

Fact, 97% will achieve less then their goals and may never be able to leave their job to work 100% from home.

Sorry this is the reality of online marketing and home based business, but landing in the top 10% who at least earn a second income, and grabbing the top 3% who make it big is something that comes from recognition of certain factors and making a choice to grab your spot.

Before we go too far let me tell you I was a top 10%, with a business headed to the top 3% and failed due to a personal injury that sidelined me for 3 months, and not planning ahead and working with a team. When I went down there was nobody that could be me and keep my business growing and with me offline, my business eroded and I had to sell before it took our personal finances with it to someone who could work the business. I now have a growing team and have lost the go it alone mentality which is a vital step to success.

Take a Russel Brunson launch and look at the people who offer testimonials on every launch. Look at the team of programmers and support staff working with him each time he makes a move. His videos show a developed team that can continue even if he were personally gone tomorrow. Cory Rudl had that with Internet Marketing Center. When God called and Cory went on to greener pastures his legacy lived on in the work of his team.

Teamwork alone though will not save your business!

Fact is that a team is only as good as what it offers in terms of value. There are failing teams out there program hopping, there are teams built behind bad leaders, and bad battle plans. I see teams come and go, my first team went because without me there was no leader, no direction, and no motivation.

Fact is most marketers fail because instead of following money they follow people!

Look again at Russel or take a look at Mike Filsame and such. They have made their fortunes off people following them blindly, and most of the followers have made a very small fraction of what these leaders have earned, and often the only money they have earned is by recruiting new followers of that guru. They struggle, under perform, and fail, because they follow people instead of the money.

See the money is in the information and systems not the author. You buy a product such as an e-book and the system or information is bad, you don't follow it, don't read it, are just there for the quick buck of the launch, or God forbid, you do well but have nothing to follow it up with. These things keep you down in the 97% instead of tapping the 3% bracket and saying let me in.

Product choice shouldn't be about thing like the ad I saw the other day which said Tissa G was starting something new, we don't know what it is, but it's got to be great because it's Tissa, and look at what Tissa has done in GDI.

Hmmm yeah, I went for that one, didn't even know what the product would be.

Tissa is always among the leaders of GDI'd leader board but that can be as simple as being in at the top of a program such as PPGDI, a advertising Co-Op, or help from their upline etc.. Fact is it may have nothing to do with anything Tissa does directly. Tissa could have thrown a ton of money you don't have at GDI. Acme People Search, another Tissa launch is pure trash in my books, Tissa don't impress me enough to sell Jack based on his name alone, site unseen, product not known. Sorry Tissa i say the same about Obama, Mike Filsame, Russel Brunson etc..

The product is the money not the who is in it.

A good product needs to hold value greater then the cost. It needs to be consumable, work well, and be something you will use daily personally. E-book folks fail all the time by nailing a one hit wonder and having no follow up. You need to pre-plan how to bring the next must have to the market and it must expand on or continue what was started in the first big thing. Thus I tell people e-books need to be a sideline income not your sole business you must build a passive income.

Mike, Russel, Cory, Joel Comm, etc.. all have passive income. You look at their systems and they have memberships and advertising sales, offer other people's residual commission paying systems and tools etc.. They build them in on the back end. Joel does our number with PPC Advertising because not only can he ensure traffic which makes clicks an almost sure deal too but it's a consumable budget that must be replenished with new money constantly.

The 3% who earn real money online all follow the money and not people. They lead instead of follow. they build back end residual income, and they take less stock in the who and focus on the what while building a multiple stream income business using a team or Co-Op approach.

Wonderful article Andy.
The other thing that is discussed but seldom focused is that those names mentioned CONTROL huge lists, and as they were growing their lists, there was constant Follow UP.
Question I ask new clients up front...How big is Your List and what system in place for SERIOUS follow up, direct mail and phone

List building is important, but the follow up is the part that is vital, list or no list. That's been the biggest success with social media and blog, the ability to follow up and over deliver without having to own expensive responder accounts, or worry about SPAM filters, and delivery rates. A blog for example will get 2 kinds of subscribers if you set it up to do so. Sign up subscribers are joining to get a e-mail alert when you write a new post, RSS subscribers don't take chances on e-mails or SPAM filters and want to make sure they are alerted to your new post the minute it happens. E-mail marketing is dying, the new subscriber is your blog media driven by social interaction.

I don't agree with that point. Either the marketers created it, or they hired very good copywriters and/or programmers.

I buy products online because I believe they will work for me. I have bought products from people I had not known prior to buying their products just because I felt the product will work for me.

Why? Because of the quality of their copies and effective advertising as well as the product launch.

On the other hand, I do not have a team yet but, ultimately, I shall have one, a good one, that will be purposeful and target-driven.

Thanks, Andy, for this article.

Phil, you seem to miss the point. Even Russel Brunson sells training cources on outsourcing to ghost writers etc.. instead of actually writing all those manuals etc.. You are buying his name but getting the works of others yet you trust is name to the extent of following him everywhere.

I am saying trust the quality of the information, Russel is great at picking good stuff but don't just take his word for it. Stop being a follower man and think for yourself. You don't need someone else to say hey this is right for you. You need to be that person.

You say you can't see how the money isn't in the author but is in the information as I said. If the Guru or as you call them mentor hired a ghost writer you are following a dunce who paid someone to look smart, someone with a monetary transaction away from being a fraud, a fake, and is basically building their reputation solely on the minds and merits of others.

It's funny, they outsource to a ghost writer and are considered a genius worth following for something that if they just snagged the work of someone else and put their own name on it would be called PLAGIARISM. These folks you trust so much are taking someone else and having them write a training guide and then slapping their name on it and you are calling them mentor and worth following when they started the relationship on deception.

That's what I have been trying to teach you my friend. You can't honestly short cut to the top on the laurels of others. It's a card house that comes down when the fool is exposed.

I think Maybe I need to put what Andy is saying in a different perspective and then it will register clearly. Let's forget about marketing programs and IM gurus for a minute and talk about food.

Many people have food allergies, some of them like allergies to seafood, strawberries or peanut butter can be deadly. Now lets say Bobby Flay who is a great cook and well known chef come's up with an absolutely delicious recipe and that recipe is all the rage, after all we're talking Bobby Flay here!

One of the ingredients in this recipe is peanut oil. People allergic to peanut oil go into anaphylactic shock which can be deadly because the person experiences swelling of their airway making it impossible to breathe.

Now Bobby Flay has the name and of course restaurant critics are writing rave reviews on this new recipe. Does that mean that someone with a peanut allergy show just blindly order this dish and eat it simply because some critic gave it five stars and Bobby Flay's name is on it? Or should they do some research first like ask if peanuts or peanut products are used in this recipe?

Think about it. When they are laying in their coffin or a hospital bed whose fault is it? Bobby Flays or the person stupid enough to blindly put something in their mouth that has the potential to kill them?

Exactly Cheryl, we are all in the end responsible for ourselves. We have to do the legwork or we will be played the fool. Thanks for stopping in.
