Sanford and Son

As I tend to consider myself and my son, to be so much like the Sanford and Son show, with of our old antique collections, I could not resist a blog dedicated to the wonderful show, and...the wonderful, talented man & actor, the one and only, Redd Foxx who played Fred G. Sanford.  The show debuted in 1972.

He and his grown son, live in Los Angeles, Ca. and they run a small "Junk" dealer business.

Fred played the role of a very stubborn and funny character, while his son always approached things with a level headiness and calmness.  Lamont had so much repect for his dad, and knew how to tolerate and laugh about his Dad's set ways.

Fred was always getting himself into mischief with his money making schemes, without ever leaving home..lol.

When Fred didn't get his way, he knew exactly what to do to get it. He would place his hand over his heart, look up to the ceiling, and Say..." Elizabeth, I'm coming to be with You".  He would pretend to be having a heart attack, and say that he was going to go join his well loved, but deceased wife.

His humorous relationship with Elizabeth's nosey sister, and his Latino neighbor whom owned a goat, made for so many memorable episodes of side splitting laughter.

Redd Fox will always be missed!  He passed away, shortly after staring in a rising new sitcom in 1991, called the Royal Family.  I can only imagine how great this show would have been.  So..with that said, I dedicate this blog to Redd Foxx.

Aunt Esther and Fred were always getting into it. Although you didn't see her husband that often he made a few appearances. Who was Esther married to and what did he do for a living?

Here's to Redd Foxx, who also one hell of a stand-up comic, too!

His comedy albums are classics! If you ever find some of these, Lisa-- Grab 'Em and Don't Let Go... they are a very valuable treasure! :) I love to collect stuff, too and I can assure you, finding stuff like this will make your day! :)

Richard Pryor's albums are classics, too, so if you see 'em,Grab 'Em!

Goodmorning Cheryl and Peaceful.

Wow, Cheryl, I forgot about Esters husband. I have to do some thinking and remembering. Ester stood out so much on the show, hardly remembered the few appearances of her husband..lol. I love the disagreements Fred and Aunt Ester had. They knew how to argue.

Peaceful, I love garage sells, and ocassional thrift store visits! I don't go too often, or my home would really look like Sanford & Son! My oldest son got hooked on collecting antiques when he was only 3. He has insulators, old bottles, signed tennis rackets, old sports cards, even an antique rug beater. Guess he really is a chip off the ole block..lol.

I will keep my eyes open for the Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor albums. I was fortunate to get Richard Pryors autograph recently. Cedrick Hardman, former Raiders star, had his photo with Richards autograph, for the movie he had a role in with him. I have it put away for safe keeping, I need to get a frame for it. The name of the movie slips me right now, the one where Richard and Gene Wilder spend the night in jail. A really funny movie. Cedrick plays a tough guy, that later winds up joining in singing with them and all the other jail mates..lol.

I love comedy, and these guys are the best!

I could not remember the name of that movie, all day long I tried..lol.
