10 Awesome Ways to Ruin Your Reputation on Facebook

hor to ruin your facebook reputation

Facebook marketing is so huge for me because it has to be amongst the top 3 marketing methods that I use. It is so simple to use and if you know exactly what you are doing, you can sign up people left, right, centre using facebook alone.

I know certain people who have been able to create a full-time income just by utilizing facebook strategies.

Right now, there are over 800 millions on facebook which according to me makes facebookthe largest prospecting market in the world. I simply love facebook!

However I see marketers do things really wrong. Whereas some of us use facebook to build relationships and form great friendship with others, I constantly see some people repel people over and over again. Some have simply ruined their facebook reputation without knowing it.

Sure Ways to Ruin Your Facebook Reputation

If you are a mlm professional you need to pay close attention because you want to continually enhance your facebook reputation not ruin it.

In this post I will be exposing to you certain tips that are sure to ruin your facebook reputation:

1.     Have a Nasty Profile Picture

I see this often. When I see network marketers choose amusing profile photos, like cartoon characters, animals, places or other things which suit their mood at the time, I know that they are not exactly serious about marketing on facebook.

As a mlm professional, you need to be professional. That is not to say that you necessarily need to wear a suit and tie or a professional headshot but you do need to present yourself well in a very responsible way.

Because most people have never seen you, they tend to assess you based on how you look like. You have to present yourself well, because you will attract people like yourself.

‘No image’ is simply not allowed if you are at all serious. Why will you even want to do that?

2.     Have a Crappy Profile Info Section

These days, I don’t go all out to request people’s friendship on facebook because I receive a sizeable amount everyday and one of the first things I do when people do is to go check out their info section of their profile. And you will be amazed at the number of supposed mlm professionals who have very crappy info section.

Take time to complete your profile and include things that would attract people to you.

 3.     Post Things Out of Frustration

We all get frustrated and sometimes things get out of hand with us that all we want to do is blurt it out. And because of the easy access, facebook is usually the place where people post stuffs.

You will be shocked at how many people see your status updates. You just might regret what you did.

Never facebook when you are angry, frustrated or hurt because I assure you that when you settle down, you’d wish you never did. Never post stuffs that you’d be uncomfortable defending.

4. Shameless Link Promotion on Your profile

We know that you are on facebook so you could promote your mlm business and get people to be a part of your business but first of all realize that spamming your updates with your business links is doing more harm than good to your business.

I see people post the same link over and over again and believe me when I say that people aint attracted to it.

You see, most people are on facebook to socialize, not to join your business and except you mix up and attract them with updates that would warm them to you, you will keep beating yourself up and not understand why you are not making progress.

 5. Posting Links on Friends’ Wall

I hate this the most and I assure that doing this would get more and more people deleting you from their friends’ list. I know I WILL delete anyone who does this to me.

Why do a lot of people hate this annoying habit of some people? Because for a lot of people on facebook, they see their facebook profile as their personal property, eventhough it is not. A lot of people see it as intruding on their privacy and you will definitely become a pest doing this.

 6. Posting Your Links as a Reply to a Post

This is the worst of the worst. Facebook allows you to mark posts as spam, but not comments. So what do people recommend to get around this? Post your affiliate link as a comment! This is not cool, for SO many reasons. If you are doing it STOP. I understand that you may just be doing what you see others doing, or worse, what your upline/”mentor” has told you to do but it is WRECKING your reputation.

 7.     Be Argumentative

While it is true that we don’t always agree on points of interest, one disgusting thing I see people do is going all out to prove their point and go to extremes in making other people agree to their line of thought.

Online (and offline) debates rarely cause anyone to shift their position on an issue. Discussion is great, but if things get heated or personal, it’s time to lighten up.

 8. Automate All Your Activity

Because there are many social media tools that help facilitate communications and collaborations between people, there is the expectation that you are present and engaged when using these tools. Overdoing these however will harm you.

Of course there is certainly some wiggle room for automating certain things, but in general, people are looking to interact with people using social media and not bombarded with automated messages.

If you are all automation and are never really there, people will figure that out soon enough and will no longer pay attention to you.

Also, you can take breaks, go on vacation, and don’t need to be on facebook every day, but you’ve got to be regular if you’re going to build relationships on facebook.

 9. Tagging People Shamelessly

This is something that really bothers me on Facebook. The tagging feature is a great feature, but used the wrong way can just be totally unprofessional and ruin your reputation. Let’s look at exactly what happens when you tag someone and how NOT to do it.

When you tag someone in a status, note, photo, or video on Facebook, you are posting it on their wall. It will send that person a message saying that they have been tagged by you. They then log in to check it out and find that it is a piece of content or, worse, a business opportunity or affiliate link which has absolutely nothing to do with them. They don’t know the person tagging them; they are simply “friends” on Facebook.

What’s bad about this, is that this status update, photo, video or note appears on their wall, without their permission. If you haven’t taken the time to say hello and introduce yourself to this person, it’s just rude to go using THEIR wall for your marketing purposes.

A good strategy is to tag people that you have built relationships with or people that are mentioned in your video (in a positive way of course!) and you will see it get shared, commented on and liked even more than if you were tagging strangers, because these people LIKE you and your content already.

You could publish this under two titles; "9 Excellent Reasons to Have 2 Facebook Accounts!" I try to not mix business with pleasure (i.e. I have personal accounts and professional accounts), but I can't say that I'm not guilty of a few of these points.

Great article Tosin, thanks for the killer tips!
