Basmati rice, popularly known as "Pearl of Rice" around the world, is famous for its qualities - long grain, unavoidable aroma, distinct taste and reasonable price. Originated in our country many years ago, the production of Basmati has caleady rossed 100 million tones and the demand looks never ending, that's how rice exporting companies in India are flourishing. India is home to a variety of rice produced in states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, but basmati, being the king of rice, is cultivated and exported in big quantities, thereby topping the list of largest exporting countries. 

There are more than 20 varieties produced worldwide. Let us tell you in detail about some most popular variety that is consumed in large quantities as they form an essential part of the dishes :-

White basmati 

As the name suggests, the grain is white in colour as it is processed. The outer layer of germ, brand and husk is removed, a fine grain comes out which is used in many cuisines. We Indians relish the boiled rice as well to the fullest as it's tasty and full of fragrance. 

Brown basmati 

Having a nutty taste, the brown rice is less processed with some layers kept intact. High in fiber, this variety is mainly preferred by the weight watchers. The basmati rice exporters in India sell both white and brown rice as the demand is equally high. The debate that brown rice is better than white rice is never ending, but the fact is  both of them are “super grain” and can consumed limited proportion any anyone and everyone.

Jasmine rice 

The small, sticky grain with the aroma of that of a flower which you mainly enjoy in Asian cuisines is the Jasmine rice. This variety is mainly grown in Thailand. 

Mogra rice 

Mainly used for pulao and khichdi, the mogra rice is low in cost but fluffier and tasty when cooked. The Indian exporters sell it off to many nations. 

Bamboo rice 

This is a unique type of rice made from bamboo shoots. Getting in local places it a little tough, but its taste and very different from any other rice available worldwide. 

You will be surprised to know that India accounts for 70% of the basmati rice supplied globally. Saudi Arabia, Middle East and Africa are among the biggest importers of Basmati.  The rise in rice exporting companies in India signifies that the competition is becoming tougher, but there is always a relief as the demand is peak high and increasing leaps and bounds every year. If the seller maintains the quality standards high, there should arise no problem in the future as well. However, the technology needs to be improvised so that we are able to conserve the natural resources like water as much as we can so that there is no deficit in our nation. 

Basmati rice ages like wine and therefore its storage is a huge concern, which Indians are able to well. The basmati rice exporters in India know all tactics to maintain the produce, store it well while its aging and supply it to nations in the best possible way to avoid any kind of loss.
