Watch Out! Positive and Negative Side of Contact Lenses

Though glasses are now more of a fashion accessory due to the soaring up styles and varieties, there is some percentage of crowd who feel contact lenses are much better choice as it retains the natural feel of the eyes. And also there is no worry of it getting misplaced or broken like glasses.
The feel good factor of the contact lenses have upsurged its demand. It is now considered to be one of the most convenient devices to correct vision. Nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism or age-related presbyopia, everything can be corrected with contact lenses. They are also available in bifocal and different tints for more convenience.
However like any other product, even contact lenses have some advantages and downsides, let’s get to know that:
Positive side of contact lenses:
- Initially you may find it a bit uncomfortable wearing contact-lenses, especially if you are switching from glasses to contacts but it is more effective than glasses as far as peripheral vision is concerned. Contacts offer wide range of vision which makes it better choice for people who rely on their eyesight for work like drivers, tailors or law enforcement officers.
- Even sports activities require peripheral vision and convenience. Since glasses can cause a lot of hindrance during outdoor activities, it may slip down and break, lead to fogging, or cause inconvenience in viewing sideways which on the other hand is not a problem with contact lenses. Hence sports player find contacts more handy than glasses. In fact it helps to improve the performance of the athletes. Contact lenses are easy to put and maintain outdoor.
- As far as cosmetic appeal is considered, hands down contact lenses win. The natural feel of the eyes is retained. You can also choose varied tint colours in lenses for more enhanced appearance.
- The ongoing improvement in contact lenses technology have made contact lenses more comfortable and breathable which reduces the risk of eye infection and retains moisture in the eyes.
Downsides of contact lenses:
- If your eyes are sensitive then with contact lenses your eyes are more prone to infection
- If you fail to choose suitable pair of lenses then there are chances of dry eye infection. It is one of the most common side effects of contact lenses. You need to make sure the lenses you choose are moisture-rich.
- Time to time cleaning, storing and changing of lenses is must. After every use you need to clean and store the lenses which sometimes is monotonous. In case of daily disposable contact lenses, you need to dispose of lenses each night and use fresh pair of lenses next day.
The downsides are actually not that much a problem as technology has cropped up with high-quality of lenses which reduces the risk of eye infections. Contact lenses brand ensure to keep your eyes healthy and clear. So if you are planning to make the switch, go for it. Contact lenses are worth trying.
