Washing and Care Tips for Colorbond Fencing
by Andrew Lope Business promotionThe
fence installed in your commercial or residential property is an important part
of the overall premises and its safety relies a lot on the fence only. This is
why regular maintenance is important, but often users of Colorbond fencing think
that since they have this fencing, they don’t have to worry regarding
maintenance. This is a wrong concept because no matter what manufacturers or vendors
claim, these fences often fail miserably in facing inclement weather
conditions. To keep them standing tall against all odds; you will have to keep
them well-maintained and clean as per manufacturer’s specifications. Some very
useful tips related to cleaning this type of fence have been discussed here in
this post.
Tip
1: Washing
Whether
you are cleaning Colorbond fence extensions or the entire fencing, never forget
to use soap along with warm water. Scourer is not recommended at all for
cleaning and instead, you should prefer using a sponge for better cleaning
results. It has been observed that scourers can cause scratches on the fence
and the shiny spots would also get created that will make the fence look ugly.
TIP
2: Type Of Soap
For
cleaning these fences, extensions as well as Colorbond gates, soap is
recommended, but only the soap with less or moderate amount of chemicals. Soap
with too much chemical or really harsh chemicals should be avoided completely
because they will compromise with the appealing look of the fence. Once
cleaning has been done, don’t forget to rinse Colorbond fencing using water
because if soap stays there, patches would develop to damage the look.
TIP
3: Pools
If
you have a pool nearby the Colorbond fence extensions, you need to clean the
fence on a regular because pool water can get splashed on them. This is something
not to miss at all during the summer season when a pool is used more than usual
particularly by kids and pets.
Bonus
tip: Keep a washcloth nearby as a reminder and to make this job easier.
TIP
4: Avoid Gardening Fertilisers
Fertilisers
are like a boon for your lawn, but the same is a curse for your Colorbond
fencing and if you have used them around these fences, it’s better to clean them
without any delay. Irrespective of how light or hard is the fertiliser, you
should clean it from the fence without any delay and this could be done very
easily by rinsing it with water. This applies for garden sprays and fertilisers
and try and not spray them on or close to these fences as much as possible.
TIP
5: Don’t Paint Scratches
Touch-up
painting is not recommended at all for Colorbond fencing because this will make
the warranty invalid. In case of a minor scratch, never paint the surface on your
own because the patch would look totally different from the rest of the fence.
Moreover, Colorbond fences contain a unique paint which is not easily
accessible. Something similar is recommended for graffiti and experts
straightaway recommend using the graffiti remover solutions offered by the
manufacturer of Colorbond fencing, i.e. BLUESCOPE STEEL.
