If you work on the computer and laptop, watch TV or use your mobile phone too much, you are exposed to high energy blue light. Too much exposure to this light can damage your eyes over time and result in many health issues. The common effects include eye strain, blurred vision, and headaches. Recent studies have also revealed that the blue light’s negative impact on the circadian rhythm and watching TV before bedtime can result in restlessness and disrupted sleep cycles as it reduces the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. And the solution to get relief from the harmful effects of blue light is blue light glasses.

Blue blockers were popular during the years the sixties and seventies when it was quite common to wear them with different color glasses like rose, orange, pink and amber. Besides looking cool, they also obstructed blue light. The blue blockers are regaining popularity again as eye care experts are encouraging people to wear them, especially at night to obstruct blue light.  They help in getting better sleep and also enhance the quality of life.

People who are more exposed to bright night light like the LED streetlights have been shown to have reduced sleep times, excessive sleepiness during daytime, poor sleep quality and more. Under such scenarios, wearing blue light glasses will help in getting you a good sleep. Preventing blue light can also help in protecting your eyes from developing macular degeneration which is a leading cause of blindness among older adults.
