recently organized a workshop on
“Overcoming Negativity and Facilitating
Skills at the Workplace”. Many other colleges like IISWBM, Army Institute of
Management, Institute of Management Studies, Globsyn Institute of Management,
Heritage Institute of Technology, The Heritage Academy and Young Horizon School
attended the Event. It was a golden opportunity for students in Kolkata to
understand ideas that would help them
cope better with pressure and
negativity at workplace.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Michael A. Potter, from
the renowned MAP International, United Kingdom. Michael A. Potter is a
globalist, an International Management Development consultant and trainer, a
writer, speaker and a global HR expert. He specializes in business, people
management and training in both public and private sectors across the globe.
The Idea of
Creating a Better Workspace
Talking about the workshop idea, Dean of Heritage Business
School, Mr. Malay Kumar Banerjee said “HBS strives to provide it’s students
best of possibilities to grow and nurture their skills, so apart from academic
oriented sessions we host a lot of personality grooming workshops with the aim
to help students understand how they can qualify into aggressive professionals.
Having an expert like Mr. Micheal A. Potter on campus was a great boost in this
regard.”The workshop was structured in 3 sessions: Effective Communication
Skills, Effective Problem Solving and Decision Making Skills, Effective
Workplace Relationship Skills

Based on these three enormous concepts, there were
activities for students like testing communication skills, solving logical puzzle,
SWOT analysis and network –building skills. Real life examples were indeed
helpful for the better understanding of the students. This was followed by a
panel discussion on “Team Building, Soft Skills and Overcoming Negativity at Workplace
and how these topics are essential to make an Effective Leader”.
The esteemed panelists included experts in areas of Human
Resources, who today chart the course of HR for the Indian Industry. The names
