The Ultimate Luxury Sedan on the go - the Toyota Crown

The Toyota Crown is one of the sedans manufactured by Toyota from 1955 up to the present. The Crown is an executive and luxury car for the Japanese market as well as marketed in other Asian markets and has already reached its 15th generation. The Toyota Crown has introduced three variants to the market: the Toyota Crown Royal Saloon, the Toyota Crown Athlete, and the Toyota Crown Majesta. 

The Crown was popular whether for government usage or as a police car. It had a good reputation and was one of the Toyota models with its unique insignia, a stylized crown logo emblem on the grille, and the steering wheel.


Specifications

The Athlete and the Royal are available with a V6 2.5-liter 4GR, V6 3.0-liter 3GR, and V6 3.5-liter 2GR. Some of their variants are equipped in RWD or AWD and with a 6- or 8-speed automatic gearbox. The hybrid model is available with a 2.5L Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine combined with a high-torque motor that consumes 23.2 km/L (4.3 l/100km) at the JC08 test cycle. 

The engine produced 131kW (178 HP) at 6,000 rpm and torque 221 Nm at 4,200-4,800 rpm. The electric motor produced an additional power and torque of 105 kW (143 HP), 300 Nm with a combined power of 162 kW (220 HP). The 2.5L consumes 12.8 km/L, the 3.0-liters consume 10.5 km/L, the 3.5-liters consume 9.0 km/L, the 3.5-liters Hybrid consumes 16.5 Km/L. It has a fuel capacity of 71L.


Features


The Toyota Crown offers a comfortable and luxurious interior with a spacious cabin and plenty of legroom, a driver support package with automatic windshield wipers, automatic anti-glare rearview mirror, etc., a rear comfort package consisting of rear side airbags, rear accessory socket, rear power seats, and rear center armrest. 


The Crown standard safety features include 7 airbags, a front and rear seat belt, an impact-absorbing body, Intelligent Clearance Sonar, Adaptive High-beam System, a Pre-collision System with brake assist, and offer a superb level of occupant protection. Other features include DVD Infotainment, Keyless Smart Access, active noise control, tire pressure display, electric seats, optional navigation, alloy rims, fog lights, and dual exhaust. 

 

Stability

The Crown was stable even around corners. The Crown Athlete offers much better traction and is more lively, while the Royal Saloon has a soft suspension for a comfortable and relaxing ride. The Crown Athlete has a stiffer suspension which gives better speed and sporty feel while the hybrid model offers a better fuel economy.
