The First Battle between Good & Evil Ghadhwa Badr
In the Holy month of Ramadan of second Hijri of Islamic calendar Muslims fought their first battle against the nonconformists of Arab. This battle was not the decisive but provided them a first experience that so that they could prove realize about the turning phase that Islam is not the fortune of Muslim but for whole humanity. Another importance of this battle was that it is known as ‘Ghadwa’ meaning a battle in which Holy Prophet Hadrat Muhammad (PBUH) participated by himself, therefore Holy Prophet (PBUH) participated in this battle abeam with the other conformists.
In battle in which insufficiently equipped Muslims became victorious, today it is still considered as one of the miraculous moments of Islamic history. The Ghadwa Badr was one of the major miracles of Allah (SWT), in which He (SWT) proved that those who believe in Allah Almighty (SWT) and His (SWT) religion would be victorious whether how many obstructions in the way. Holy Quran describes the day of Ghadwa Badr as “Day of Discrimination” (between right and wrong). “And know that whatever ye take as spoils of war, lo! a fifth thereof is for Allah, and for the messenger and for the kinsman (who hath need) and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if ye believe in Allah and that which We revealed unto Our slave on the Day of Discrimination, the day when the two armies met. And Allah is Able to do all things.” (Quran 8:41)
The conditions that created the situation of battle were provoked with the news that was obtained by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that a huge number of people with great amount of money & merchandise, which are commanded by Abu Sufyan on his return to Makkah from Syria. A state of cold war was already present between the Muslims and the Quraish, later all they used to utilize their powers to damage and ill-treatment towards Muslims, to obstruct the advancement, and to curtail their increasing authority. They were tightfisted their financial and physical growth to get on the trade and their armed objectivity very frequently intervene in resources present in the extremities of Madina and they used to territory to strike on the Muslims.
Abu Sufyan, used to be one of the notorious opponent of Islam, therefore, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) urged Muslims to get prepared in order to counter the troops of Quraish. However, as it was a non-military troop the Prophet (PBUH) did not made any special preparations to counter them, but just deployed counter troops to seize the way of pedestrians.
Informers’ informed about the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) preference to impede them, Abu Sufyan sent a messenger to Makkah to ask for more troops. Therefore, the Quraish without difficulty sent more troops and along with distinguished rulers of Makkah made armed troops in to support their fellows.
However, the will of Almighty Allah (SWT) was something else; Muslims fought bravely and defeated a massive retaliating troop of Quraish. Muslims fought so well being in small in number they killed and caught thousands from retaliating troops of Quraish. Strategy of Muslims was so precise and accurate that they were up to three hundred and thirteen in front of triple figure battalion of nonbelievers. Holy Prophet (PBUH) remained praying throughout the battle for the success of Muslims and after battle, he announced to release the prisoners against Jiziya (Reward of releasing prisoner) or by teaching a Muslim to knowledge. In this way battle, end up in the favor of Muslims by the wisdom of Holy Prophet (PBUH).
