In the last few decades a lot of Non-Governmental Organizations in the country have come into existence with all might. Through their dedicated and selfless work, a lot of these foundations have strengthened their position in the society. In fact, a few of them have even carved a name for themselves and have also impacted society in a very positive way. These NGOs in India listed below, however, have to overcome a lot of problems that are prevalent in our country such as a lack of transparency or corruption.

The Ila Trust
Way back in 1994, Ila Trust was a project that was initiated by Reeta Devi who had worked with Mother Teresa ever since she was sixteen years old. Ila Trust also currently has three mobile clinics, four pharmacists, eleven doctors along with six screeners and some administrative staff that takes care of the health issues of various Delhi slum dwellers. The NGO has also been promoted by the famous Indian management and marketing guru and columnist Suhel Seth. He is also the Chairman of The Ila Trust and supports the efforts to provide healthcare to the ones who need it most.

Smile Foundation

One of the most reputed NGOs in the country, Smile Foundation is one institution that has benefited more than 7,50,000 children along with their families every year. It reaches to more than 1000 remote villages as well as slums across 25 states in the country through their massive live projects dealing with education, livelihood, healthcare as well as women empowerment. Founded in 2002 with an aim to bring about positive changes in the lives of underprivileged children and their families.

Magic Bus
Founded in the year 1999 by Matthew Spacie, Magic Bus is one of the best and most reputed NGOs in Mumbai and has also impacted the lives of 1 million children in the last two decades. Working with children between the age group of 12 - 18 years, the foundation aims at providing them with knowledge and skills in order to help them move out of poverty. The foundation also ensures that the children complete their secondary education, prevent early marriages and also have the right skills for employment. Currently, Magic Bus is present in about 22 states and annually works with 375000 children and about 1000 young people. This NGO that is located in Mumbai has actually grown over the years and now even provides its services in Nepal, Myanmar as well as Bangladesh.

These are a few NGOs that have been tirelessly working for the betterment of the country in whatever manner possible - for we need to unite in order to make this world a better place.
