Is Clutter Affecting Your Mood?

by Mark Simmons Donate Clothes

So many things play into how to feel from day to day. If you are a generally happy person, you may not dwell so much on the little things. If you are someone that feels stress 97% of the time, you may long for relief. But what about the factors around us we can change. Can we simply declutter our lives and have an improved mood going forward? In this article, we look at a few topics that might be affecting your mood, including how clutter can potentially devastate your outlook on life.

Are You Stressed Daily?

Feeling the stress of the world every day will wear on you. You may be gaining weight or losing it. You could be losing sleep at night. Stress comes in a variety of forms and does affect everyone differently. Some people claim that they thrive on daily stress, while others just want to cry a river in the corner. If you are feeling stressed daily, take a look at your home first. Does it reflect these feelings? Do you have a ton of clutter that may need to be purged or given to non profit organizations as a charitable contribution?

Do You Have Poor Eating Habits?

You might be surprised that clutter can affect your eating habits. For some, confusion is something that takes the mind off of everything else. It can be challenging to focus thinking about cleaning tasks you need to do and keep you in turn from performing life's natural function of eating. If you find you are preoccupied with the stuff around you or lack the organization in your home, it might affect how you are eating. Too much or too little are both bad for your overall health.

Do You Hoard Items or Hold On To Things To Long?

If you find that you are holding on to items for decades, it is time to let well. Sure, you may suffer a slight sadness at throwing things away, but you will clear up areas of your home you might not have seen in years. There is a connection between what we feel and how that comes out in our living spaces.

Do You Not Enjoy Coming Home?

If you don't like coming home, ask yourself why. Is it too small? Does it feel like the walls are closing in on you? Sometimes doing simple organizations can improve the living area, making it more of a desirable place to call home. If you still aren't loving your space, ask friends to help to redecorate and get rid of the old.
