ICF group mentor coaching for ACC, PCC and MCC credentialing to become a more confident coach
by Powerhouse Coaching ICF certified mentor coachLike most coaches, you are probably facing big challenges
with fewer resources. Good coaching will help your clients break through barriers
and discover their best tools for personal and professional success, while
allowing you to coach with skill and confidence.
Coaching is different from counseling in that while counseling
offers recommended solutions for improvement, coaching is a discovery-based
process in which the client is led to create the solution for challenges at
hand within themselves, rather than carrying out someone else’s
recommendations. Traditional training follows a linear course for learning
certain objectives set out by a curriculum. On the other hand, coaching equips
individuals to face challenges in the present and future with long-term
solutions created by the client with guidance from the coach.
ICF group mentor coaching is all about creating action, forward
movement and self-discovery among the group participants.
Group mentor coaching
requirement for ICF credentials
Applicants for ICF credentialing are required to demonstrate
a set number of hours of mentor coaching. Specific requirement vary by
credential level being applied for, such as ACC (Associate Certified Coach),
PCC (Professional Certified Coach) and MCC (Master Certified Coach). These ICF
credentials require varying amounts of ICF group coaching hours, one-on-one
coaching hours and coaching experience. The participants need to submit proof
of attending coaching classes and pass the ICF exam to acquire their
certification.
For ACC certification, 10 hours of mentoring by a mentor
coach, 60 hours of coach training, and 100 hours coaching experience is required.
Out of the 10 mentoring hours, 7 hours must be ICF mentor coaching spread over
a period of three months. PCC and MCC certifications also require 10 hours of
mentoring out of which 7 hours must be in ICF group coaching. Additionally, PCC
certification requires 125 hours of coach training and 500 hours of coaching
experience, while MCC certification requires 200 hours of coach training and 2,500
hours of coaching experience.
Deepening trust and
collaboration among peers
Coaching involves partnering with clients and can help them achieve
a variety of goals. Group coaching deepens trust and collaboration among peers
as members gain an understanding of what’s keeping them stuck, improve their
interpersonal support skills and enhance personal flexibility and adaptability.
While positive feelings may be a natural outcome of
coaching, the primary focus remains on creating actionable strategies for
achieving goals.
Participants of an ICF mentor coaching
group can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges, enhanced
thinking, interpersonal effectiveness, achievement of personally relevant goals
and increased confidence in their chosen coaching niches.
In ICF group coaching, the mentor
coach provides and encourages an exploratory and learning space between all
coaches within the group. While there are objectives in coaching, they are set
by the coach with guidance from the mentor coach.
