Your Hp printer permits you to print in both Black and White and color options. Printing in black and white or color requires the individuals to change the preference in printer settings while printing a document. Sometimes, your printer may only print in grayscale and other times it will only print in color. This is a common error with HP printer.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer and Drivers

Go to Windows Key + R.
Click oncontrol and press OK.
Visit Programs > Programs and Features.
Find your printer in the list and chooseUninstall.

Eliminate from the Device Manager

Press Windows Key + R.
Enter devmgmt.msc and press on OK to open the Device Manager.
Expand all the Print Queues. Right-click on the challenging Printer and choose Uninstall Device.
Close the Device Manager.

From Control Panel remove the Printer

Press Windows Key + R.

Entercontrol and press on OK button to open Control Panel.
In the Control Panel, search for Devices and Printer and open it.
Now, Choose all the printers listed under Devices one by one, right click and select Remove Devices.
Ensure that you do this for all the problematic printers.
After removing the entire device reboot the system.

Delete Junk and Temporary Files

Press Windows Key + R.
Enter%temp% and have a click on OK button.
It will open the junk and temporary files folder.
Choose all the files in the Folder and select Delete.
Start the PC again.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

Go to the page of HP printer driver
Search the model of your printer and download the latest printer drivers.
Run and install the printer drivers on your PC.
When the setup encourages you to connect the printer to the PC, plug the printer USB cable to your PC.

Try to print a document in color and check if the error is fixed or not. If necessary, reboot the device and try again.

Printer won’t print in grayscale

Uninstall the Drivers and Printer

Click on Windows Key + Rand then Run
In the Run box, entercontrol, and press on OK to open the Control Panel.
Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
Choose the Printer software and click on Uninstall.

Remove the Printer Driver

Press Windows Key + R, and type Control and press on OK to open the Control Panel.
In the Control Panel,examine for Device and Printers.
Click on Printers and Devices.
Choose any printer and click on Printer Server Properties.
Go to the Drivers tab and remove all the drivers listed on the HP printer.
Reboot the system
After the resumePress Windows Key + R.
