How to Prevent the Wood Stain from Bleeding Through?

by Stains Paints WRP is America’s Leading distributor of Mohawk

Most people who have taken the DIY route to stain their exterior wood furniture have most likely run into blotched unsightly spots or bleed through turning up only after their first coat application. These spots and bleed through can appear extremely unpleasant and be a concern for the long-term condition of the wood.

If you are kicking your piece of furniture to the curb, do not do that just yet. There is an easy fix for bleed through and stains – General Finishes stain blocker! It is a water-based white primer that seals the wood surface and forms a bond so that the stain adheres better and does not penetrate through. Not only does a stain blocker application result in a more polished finish, it also makes the finish last longer. Not to mention it also blocks colors, which may come in handy when coating a pale shade over a dark one.

Applying stain blocker on your wood surface is pretty easy too. Similar to paint, it can be applied using a brush or roller, or even with an airless sprayer. Even though one coat is sufficient for basic sealing purposes; in the case of bleed through, you may require two. After the coat is hard and dry, you are ready for your exterior stain application.

Seal your exterior wood surfaces by applying a stain blocker and prevent unsightly spots and bleed through from surfacing.
