a professional coach. A qualified mentor coaching group meets the requirements
of 10 hours of mentor coaching by the International Coach Federation (ICF), for
ACCs renewing their credential, as well as those working towards their ACC and
PCC portfolio routes.
Mentor coaching for ACC
(Associate Certified Coach) certification is an essential criterion for coach
credentialing by the ICF. It provides professional assistance in achieving and
demonstrating the level of coaching competency and capability required by the ICF.
Mentor coaching for ACC focuses
on increasing your coaching skills while achieving certification or renewal. It
aims to align the coach’s capability with the ICF core competencies of
coaching. The appreciative and dialogued process of mentor coaching for ACC is
based on an observed and/or recorded coaching session.
The ICF requires credentialing
candidates to partner with a mentor coach who holds a valid credential for a
minimum of 10 hours of live mentor coaching.
The ICF has outlined the roles
and responsibilities of a mentor coach that include:

Modeling of effective initiation and contracting
of client relationship

Ensuring that both are clear of the goal of
mentoring
·
Informing the mentee on all aspects of ICF Code
of Ethics
·
Focusing on core competency development through
oral and written feedback
·
Informing the mentee of the availability of the
Ethical Conduct Review Board
Allowing for reflection and feedback
Mentor coaching for ACC should
take place over an extended period of a minimum of three months to allow for
reflection and practice on the part of the client (coach) while allowing for
listening and feedback from the mentor coach. The mentor coach provides a
supportive space for the mentee to process the experiences they have had when
working with them.
