Certification is just the first step towards one’s career as a professional coach. A qualified mentor coaching group meets the requirements of 10 hours of mentor coaching by the International Coach Federation (ICF), for ACCs renewing their credential, as well as those working towards their ACC and PCC portfolio routes.

Mentor coaching for ACC (Associate Certified Coach) certification is an essential criterion for coach credentialing by the ICF. It provides professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the level of coaching competency and capability required by the ICF.

Mentor coaching for ACC focuses on increasing your coaching skills while achieving certification or renewal. It aims to align the coach’s capability with the ICF core competencies of coaching. The appreciative and dialogued process of mentor coaching for ACC is based on an observed and/or recorded coaching session.

The ICF requires credentialing candidates to partner with a mentor coach who holds a valid credential for a minimum of 10 hours of live mentor coaching.

The ICF has outlined the roles and responsibilities of a mentor coach that include:

·         Modeling of effective initiation and contracting of client relationship

·         Ensuring that both are clear of the goal of mentoring

·         Informing the mentee on all aspects of ICF Code of Ethics
