Heavy Air Traffic?
The airport authority strives by the
ideals of Nyerere, also famously known as the Father of the Nation. Remembered
for his deeds, sacrifice, vision and commitment, Nyerere is one of the most
celebrated leader in Tanzania.
Following
Nyerer’s vision, Airport Taxi Cooperative Society (ATACOS) was set up in 2006.
The taxi services operate at the JNIA, and pays an annual parking fee of 74.9
m/-.
ATACOS just
launched a new fleet of cars by acquiring a loan of 840 m/- form Equity Bank.
Dr. Mwakyembe said, “TAA should strive to serve better, offering good services
of high standard that immortalises the name of the Father of the nation and
justify why the airport was named after him." The minister also commended
the airport authorities to ensure good management and cleanliness.
There is a need
of a vigorous transport system at the JNIA as the number of passengers is
likely to grow more to 15 million per year. Construction of railway lines to
transport people to the airport are also in the talks.
Tanzania Airport
Authority predicts an increase in air traffic in and out of Tanzania and
henceforth accentuates the need of a robust and diverse transport system so
that effective transport amenities can be made available to the travellers.
