Equity Group Picks Prime Spot as GES Sponsor and Banker

NAIROBI July 23, 2015-Regional
diversified business services firm, Equity Group Holdings, has stepped in as a
Diamond sponsor, for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) Pre-Summit Expo.
The Equity Group Holdings, local banking
subsidiary, Equity Bank Kenya, will also be playing a key role as the official
GES Banker this weekend. In this role, Equity Bank will provide end to end
banking solutions at all GES locations for the delegates.
Equity Group Holdings, Managing
Director, Dr. James Mwangi, said the firm, is well placed to provide banking
and related solutions for the delegates attending the global conference.
A number of Equity Group and Equity
Group Foundation, Executives, invited as Speakers by the conference organisers,
Dr. Mwangi disclosed, will also, be at hand to deliver presentations during the
workshops and related panel presentations talks lined up for the Pre-Summit and
main GES event this weekend.

At the main summit this weekend, Dr.
Mwangi, acknowledged that he has been invited by the GES organizers as a
Speaker, during the official opening session on this Saturday to be attended by
visiting American President Barack Obama. He will also participate as a Panelist
on Sunday, focusing on local investment opportunities’ in agro processing and
related value addition spheres.
“At Equity Group Holdings, we have
finalized our plans to actively participate in the GES conference as part of
our corporate mission and objectives,” Dr. Mwangi said. “During the events, we
shall also be at hand to provide banking services and showcase Equity Group
Foundation entrepreneurship and development models,” he added.

The hosting of the 6th GES, Dr. Mwangi
noted is a clear win for the National Branding efforts as Kenya is currently on

President Obama elevated
entrepreneurship to the forefront of the United States’ engagement agenda
during a historic speech in Cairo in 2009.
Since then, the Obama Administration has delivered on this commitment,
greatly expanding support for entrepreneurship and economic opportunity around
the world.
The Pre- GES Summit Expo 2015 is
platform to showcase Kenya's innovations and investment opportunities. It is

The PRE-GES summit Expo - exhibition and
Knowledge Sharing Seminar was put together by the Government in partnership
with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance
(KEPSA).
Speaking during the launch of the two
day event, H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta
challenged both local and foreign investors to tap into the pool of local
talent and invest in the development of technological innovations which will be
the basis of future industries.
“As a government we are committed to the
elimination of bureaucratic processes that have hindered the development of
innovative industries among the youth. We need to cut the red tape and allow
innovation to thrive. We ourselves as government are already embracing
technology in the delivery of our services, some of the solutions we need are
within the creative reach of our innovators.” President Kenyatta said.
The Pre-GES Expo hosts an innovation
exhibition where young entrepreneurs are showcasing their innovations while the
main plenary sessions present the opportunity for knowledge sharing with
captains of industry, seasoned entrepreneurs and policy makers sharing their
insights on how to sustain businesses beyond the Start-up phase.
The Summit will close this Thursday
paving way for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit which will be attended by
American President Barack Obama and over 2000 delegates from across the world
as the host country Kenya will field 175 delegates showcasing innovation and
investment opportunities alongside Kenya's diverse heritage and culture.
