Game of Thrones Creators Have Got a New Show

The creators of mega-hit TV series Game of Thrones David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will helm over the creation of a series based on a science fiction book, “Three-Body Problem.”

Netflix will have the ownership of the show and the show will stream on the streaming giant’s platform once the production is complete.

The duo will collaborate with Alexander Woo of The Terror: Infamy fame to create a world in the backdrop of an alien annexation.

After taking a vacation for one year, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are back, and this time around they will be adapting Liu Cixin’s book “The Three-Body Problem.” They will work in conjunction with a lot of collaborators that include Rian Johnson, Alexander Woo, Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike.

The first novel made Liu the first Asian ever to win the Hugo award. The first book was set in a world of the 1960s, during the period of the cultural revolution, when humans made the first contact with an intelligent extraterrestrial species.

After aliens defeat the humans and take over the earth, humans are set in two disparate groups. One group which supports the aliens as a superior group ruling over us, and the other group which is still determined to fight and resist their control.

Benioff and Weiss expressed their excitement for the upcoming project in a statement they made to the Deadline in which they called “The Three-Body Problem” an exciting prospect where they will get to tell the story from the 1960s to the far future.

The chairman of Yoozoo Group and the Three-Body Universe Lin Qi will also executive produce along with Bernadette Caulfield who has also been an executive producer of Game of Thrones and is the current president of the company founded by Benioff and Weiss.

Liu Cixin will also be a part of the project, serving as the consulting producer. Ken Liu, who wrote an English translation for two books in the series will be a part of the production team.

The Three-Body Problem has fans all around the world, including former US President Barack Obama, who has reportedly also liked the book “Gone Girl.”

Executive Producer Rosamund Pike starred in the big-screen adaptation of Gone Girl.

The new series is undoubtedly based on a fascinating book series and will give Benioff and Weiss a chance to sort of redeem themselves after they faced severe backlash after the Game of Thrones streamed its eighth and final season. The audience and critics equally disapproved of the final season calling it unimaginative and way below the standards set by its previous seasons. However, it is imperative to understand that unlike “Game of Thrones”, the duo will adapt a show based on an already finished book series.
