Five Components of a Successful Email
by Jeremy Banks EvolutesixRunning an effective email campaign takes practice and fine attention to detail. Which is why, during your email marketing campaign management, you need to remember these five things:
Subject Line
A Subject Line is an introduction that identifies the intent of the email. This subject line, displayed to the email user or recipient when they look at their list of messages in their inbox, should tell the recipient what the message is about, what the sender wants to convey.
When writing your email subject line, you need to be clear about the intent of your email in your subject line; this could make or break your email campaign.
Remember to:
- Keep it short
- Be clear and specific about the topic of the email
- Use logical keywords for search and filtering
- Indicate if you need a response
- Set a deadline in the subject line
- Don't start a sentence that you finish in the email's body
Greeting
People enjoy the feeling of a personalized email. It may take a bit of effort, but it pays to include some personalization in the greeting of the email.
When consumers receive generic greeting such as "Hey, you!" or "Hi!" it makes the email or the advertisement feel less inclusive. And remember, your email greetings don't end with just the opening formalities. Tailor the email in such a way that the customer will read the rest of the text.
For example, "Hey, Mary Anne! We've got just thing for you."
Body of the Email
This is where the bulk of your information will go but keep in mind not to give away too much; otherwise, your targeted consumer may not click on any of the links you will provide them. Have enough information that you will leave the consumer satisfied yet hungry to know more.
Don't write your email in blocks either, give the eyes a break.
Images and Graphics
The new way to write emails is to incorporate the business's branding and images to complement the text. People in the digital age enjoy "aesthetics" and styles to pair with the context written for them.
You're writing an email, and the medium is the internet. Remember, this isn't the stone age. We don't use typewriters anymore.
Call to Action
Arguably, this is the most critical portion of your email. Have you ever noticed the one-liner at the end of the email that says something like "Limited time only, buy now!"? What the CTA does is that it instills a sense of panic and urgency in the consumer and makes them want to purchase.
