Explore the Road and Find New Adventures with the Toyota Vanguard

by Masashi S. JDM Enthusiast

The Toyota Vanguard is one of the best SUVs bought by many due to its price, affordable maintenance cost, and being the master of rough roads. The Toyota Vanguard performs very well due to its good ground clearance. Some individuals call this vehicle an occasional off-road sport utility vehicle but some people also know this as a recreational vehicle. SUVs are the new trend now because of their spaciousness, stronger road presence, and better outward visibility.

Exterior and Interior

The Vanguard is a luxury-class mid-size SUV developed for active urban lifestyle and driving pleasure with a multi-functionality and high-quality interior with bronze decorations and chrome coating. It also includes foldable third-row seats that can be detached completely under the floor and thus get a vast trunk. Some models come with a push-start button, keyless entry, power mirrors, locks, and steering wheel-mounted volume controls with a 235 mm longer body and a wheelbase extended by 100 mm. The Vanguard is a 5 or 7-seater, with the front passengers sitting comfortably as well with all passengers enjoying plenty of legroom, headroom, feet room, and knee room. Though the 7-seater does not offer sufficient space, adults will struggle for knee, legroom, and foot room at the back seat.

The external features include bigger and chrome trim elements and stylish headlights. The Vanguard has an exterior roofline and layout with fresh crossover designs, that resemble the rocky SUV designs of the past. The front end features a front bumper, fog lights, contoured headlights, and a styled chrome grille. The Toyota Vanguard has a good-looking and attractive exterior with smooth edges and curves that improve its stylish look. All grades come with optional roof rails and alloy rims.

Features

The Toyota Vanguard is equipped with standard and advanced safety features including SRS 6 Airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic braking distribution, traction control, and driving aids which help the driver to drive comfortably and stress-free with Downhill Assist Control (DAC) button and also equipped with “active headrests,” which reduces injury risk in a collision. The Vanguard obtained the maximum score of 5-stars from the NHTS and was identified as a safe car. Some safety technologies on the Vanguard include stability control, and two-row roll-sensing side curtain airbags.

Engine and Transmission

The Toyota Vanguard is a modern-looking SUV with spacious cabin and comfortable on the road with 170 bhp and 224 Nm of torque sent to the all-wheel-drive (AWD) with a 5-speed Automatic transmission. The Toyota Vanguard has two engine options: the 2.4 liters in-line 4-cylinder engine equipped with (CVT) Continuously Variable Transmission Hyper CVT-i and the 3.5 liters 6-cylinder V6 engine equipped with 5-speed Electronic Controlled Transmission Super ECT. The Toyota Vanguard models offer a fuel tank capacity of 60L.

The AZ-FE engine 2.4 liters 4-cylinders in-line 16-valves DOHC VVT-I has a power of 125kW (170 bhp). This engine is the most bought car in East Africa due to its incredible fuel consumption rate ranging between 9.1 km/L and 12.6 km/L. The second option with the engine code 2GR-FE produces a maximum power of 280 bhp – 206 kW at 6200 rpm and a torque of 344.0 Nm at 6200 rpm.
