Eating With Hemp Oil

by Troy M. Mr
Hemp oil and its close cousin, medical CBD oil, have both grown immensely in popularity over the past year. There are a rapidly increasing number of studies and personal accounts that have attested to their many benefits. From treating anxiety and skin issues to promoting heart health, it seems that there is no end in sight for the potential of cannabis oils.

There are many ways to use hemp oil in everyday life that are not limited to capsules or skin care products. For others, they add it to their meals. It is still not as popular as, say, olive oil or vegetable oil, but it has proven itself to be a worthy alternative.

Here are a few things to expect when trying out hemp oil in food for the first time:

The Taste Of Hemp Oil

Nutty and earthy: these are the words that are most commonly used to describe what hemp oil tastes like. It is much stronger than cooking oils that most people are accustomed to. Because it can easily overpower other flavors, it's not recommended for mixing with sweet food as it can ruin the taste. As such, it is often used more with dishes with other flavors, or are at least not as sweet.

Nutrients In Hemp Oil

The surprisingly high nutritional value of hemp oil is one of the main reasons why it has become so prevalent in the first place.

Hemp oil rich in protein and omega acids, making it an excellent fish substitute for vegans and vegetarians. This also makes the oil suitable for improving cardiovascular functions and even preventing some types of cancer. It is also very low in saturated fat content compared to other cooking oils—ideal for those who are keeping a close eye on their cholesterol levels and want to avoid getting diabetes.

Other nutrients that can be found in hemp oil include:
Magnesium
Iron
Zinc
Calcium
Phosphorous
Sulfur, and
Vitamin E.

“Cooking” with Hemp Oil

It should be noted that hemp oil should not be heated up. Using it for actual cooking is discouraged. Being subject to high temperatures can affect the chemical makeup, thus changing the taste and the number of nutrients you can get.

Hemp oil can be added to salad dressings, smoothies and shakes, sauces, pesto, dips, and more. It is up to the user if they want to get more creative with implementing it in their meals. Some who do not like its taste but want to enjoy its properties often mixed it with other ingredients that help cover up its strong flavor.

Whether you go for cooking or medical hemp oil, there are many benefits that you can enjoy by adding this wonder product to your everyday life. And the best part is that hemp oil is completely legal. You won’t have any worries about breaking any laws when using it, nor do you have to move to a place where marijuana is allowed. So don’t be afraid to give it a shot.
