Common Misconceptions of CBD

by Troy M. Mr
CBD oil is becoming more popular nowadays and the number of its users is growing by the minute. This is because it has a wide array of medical benefits. But when starters learn that CBD oil actually stands for cannabidiol, they may become hesitant to use it because of its close ties to marijuana.

Because of this quick assumption that CBD is much like marijuana, CBD is cannot make its users addictive and has low-risk side effects. And contrary to belief, it doesn’t have the capacity to get users high.

Here are some other common misconceptions about CBD:

CBD oil and medical marijuana are the same

The first thing to note is that CBD oil is produced from hemp, whereas medical marijuana is made of a different type of cannabis.

One notable trait that sets CBD oil and medical marijuana apart is the absence of a compound called THC in CBD oil. THC is responsible for getting users high when consuming cannabis. CBD oil does not contain THC, making its effects more powerful than if it did contain THC.

Only adults can use CBD oil

While the concern for children’s health is always a top priority, small doses of CBD oil can actually benefit children’s health. For instance, CBD oil may be used for epileptic children to lessen their seizures.

However, it’s always best to consult the doctor before proceeding with using CBD oil for your child.

CBD can treat illnesses

As with any other alternative medicine, CBD oil is not a one-size-fits-all medical treatment. It has the ability to relieve symptoms ranging from physical to mental problems. It cannot, however, actually cure patients of these conditions.

CBD oil can be used to ease several conditions including physical pain, epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and even acne.

CBD can be used as a sedative

Medical marijuana contains THC, which has sleep-inducing effects, but CBD does not have the same effect. Quite the contrary, CBD oil can actually increase users’ alertness.

One study found that rats exposed to CBD were more alert, and concluded that CBD had a waking effect on the hypothalamus.

Cannabinoid rich hemp oil has many benefits, and contrary to belief, it’s a healthy alternative to some common medical conditions. Don’t let false propaganda beat you to the facts of its many benefits. Provided that you consult your doctor who can best determine what the best medication is for whatever condition you may have, CBD oil is perfectly safe to use.
