'The Lallantop' explores viral cutting. In our investigation, the viral cutting of the newspaper came out in March 2018. There was no decision to increase the allowance of MPs during the Corona period of 2020, which has not yet been decided.

Based on the heading of viral cutting, we searched. We got the whole news on the website of Hindustan newspaper. According to this news published on 1 March 2018, the Union Cabinet had decided to increase the allowance given to MPs every month. Among these allowances, money received for furniture, allowance for the constituency, allowance for office expenses was increased. The then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also said in the 2018 budget speech that a permanent system will be created for reviewing the salary of MPs every 5 years.

After the commencement of the Corona period, the Government of India had reduced this allowance to MPs by 30% for one year. These cuts were made from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021. Even then, the rumor was spread on social media that the Central Government has increased the allowance of MPs. The Lallantop, in its fact check of 28 April 2020, examined the fact that there was no increase in the MPs' allowance, while it was cut by 30% in view of the Corona period. Then a senior officer of the Lok Sabha office also told 'The Lallantop' on the request of anonymity-

“There has been a reduction in the total salary of MPs. There has been no increase of any kind. "

We did not get any information in media reports of any increase in the allowance of MPs in April 2020 till 31 March 2021.
