Basic Knowledge of PCB

The full of PCB is Printed circuit board, it is also called “printed wiring boards” or “printed wiring cards”.

The development of wire wrapping is the significant advance was the development of wire wrapping, which is that small gauge wire is literally wrapped around a post at each connection point, creating a gas-tight connection which is easily changeable and highly durable.

The cost and size of electronic components began to decrease as the electronics moved from vacuum tubes and relays to silicon and integrated circuits. Since electronics got more prevalent in consumer products, and the pressure to reduce the size and manufacturing costs of electronic products drove manufacturers to search for better solutions. PCB was born.

A PCB is kind of like a layer cake or lasagna- there are alternating layers of different materials that are laminated together with adhesive and heat, such like this is that the result is a single object.

From the beginning, we know that the full name of PCB is printed circuit board. It is a kind board that has pads and lines that connect various points together. From the pictures of PCB that we saw in life, there are traces that electrically connect the various components and connectors to each other. A PCB allows powers and signals to be routed between the physical devices. What makes the electrical connections between the surface of the PCB and the electronic components is the solder which is a kind metal. As a metal, solder also acts as a strong mechanical adhesive.

Nowadays, PCB uses two basic materials to produce, which is FR4 and metal core based material. Usually, the lighting board uses metal core based material and the driver board uses FR4.
