Ayurvedic treatment for Parkinsonby Kudrati Ayurved Parkinson Treatment in India
The disease is a result of gradual deterioration of nerve junctions (ganglia) situated at the base of the brain. The problem begins with tremors in hand or limb when the muscles are at rest and could excessively hamper the muscle control and even normal body movements. As per the symptoms and after effects of Parkinson’s disease, it is found to be similar with the kampavata disease as described in the Ayurvedic texts.
The factors responsible for the cause of the disease are still not known but the role of genetic hereditary is being debated by many. While a medical research has shown methyl-phenyl-tetrahydropyridine causing severe Parkinsonism in young drug users, a strong opinion has now generated in the medicine world that the disease might be occurring due to the excessive intake of environmental toxins by the human body. The symptoms of the disease include depression, tiredness, and rigidity in muscles, aching limbs and mental slowness.
Parkinson’s is co-related with kampavata in Ayurveda and in this problem vata relocates itself in the brain and dries up the brain cells leading to tremors and instability. As per Ayurvedic description, Parkinson’s disease reflects massive vitiation of vata in the human mind which ultimately dries up the brain cells and occupies almost all channels of the body. The foundation for vata vitiation is provided by the disturbed digestion and high presence of toxins (Ama). Herbs that promote digestion in conjunction with nerve tonics are referred to the patients both to restore digestive function both in the gastrointestinal tract as well as at the cellular level.
