Application or Information- Which is the Bigger Challenge for CBSE Schools in Kolkata?

by BHS Mukundapur Team Best CBSE School in Kolkata

Like every other field, education in India has some merits and demerits. One of the major challenges is how to apply information to improve teaching methods, upgrade syllabus, bring changes to methods of assessment, and develop the personalities of students to make them future-ready. For this, CBSE schools in Kolkata have to implement the outcomes of the latest developments in the world of education and offer a better learning environment for students.

In this article, we’ll discuss how the schools are introducing modern teaching techniques so to bring out excellence in students.

1.     No more mugged up knowledge: Bookish knowledge is no knowledge unless it is applied in the real world. Students in India learn from syllabus with the sole aim to earn good marks in exams. While students in western countries like the US, Canada & the rest of other European countries also compete in exams, thanks to their process of evaluation, western educationists put more emphasis on assessment methods developed to judge the practical knowledge of students.

Many schools in Kolkata are introducing newer methods of assessment. These methods of assessment are bringing good outcomes, especially in lower grades.

2.     Learning outside classrooms: CBSE schools that implement modern teaching techniques put emphasis on learning outside classrooms. The purpose of modern schools is to prepare students for real-life challenges. Learning outside classrooms may take place in workshops, or it could be educational trips. Whatever may be the location, the purpose is singular.

Students are put through real-life challenges, and they’re encouraged to apply their knowledge to overcome them. Learning outside classrooms help students learn soft skills. For example, students are encouraged to make adjustments and complete tasks as teams. In certain situations, teachers may appoint some students as leaders. Teachers can distribute tasks to different teams and can also hold contests.

3.     New methods of assessment: In India, theoretical assessment is the most popular method of evaluation. However, it being popular doesn’t ensure that it is the best way of evaluating students’ merits. Although schools can’t bring radical changes in the methods of evaluation unless the education boards introduce such changes, schools are implementing new methods of assessment in classrooms. For example, these schools provide teachers with such training so that along with imparting knowledge, teachers would also assess classroom performances of students; figure out if students are facing problems in any particular subjects etc., and hold discussions with students about their problems.

4.     Extracurricular activities: Today, schools are more concerned with building the personalities of students. Hence, they encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities. One of the best ways to shed the fear of stage is to participate in debates or dramas. Similarly, to build a bank of general knowledge questions, nothing is better than participating in quiz contests. Cultural programs help build relationships between our tradition and our next generation.

There are added advantages to choosing an English medium school in Kolkata for your children. As the importance of a sound knowledge of English will only grow with time, it is better to prepare your children for the future and choose an English medium school. But at first, gather enough information about a school before admitting your children.
