Mumbai, July 2025 – In a strong message of accountability and public service, IAS officer Sanjeev Jaiswal, currently serving as the Vice President and CEO of MHADA (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority), has once again underlined his focus on transparent, timely, and people-first governance. With several major redevelopment projects underway across Mumbai, Mr. Jaiswal is leading a renewed push to ensure that government policies work for the people — not above them.

At a recent meeting with housing societies, developers, and MHADA officials, Mr. Jaiswal emphasized the importance of clear communication, citizen participation, and faster decisions. “Government work should not cause stress. People should feel supported, not ignored. That is the standard we are working toward,” he said.

Driving Change at Ground Level

From slum redevelopment in Malvani to large-scale housing plans in Motilal Nagar, Abhyudaya Nagar, and GTB Nagar, Sanjeev Jaiswal’s leadership is focused on solving problems that have been pending for years. He has directed MHADA teams to act quickly, give regular updates, and avoid unnecessary delays.

Residents living in old, unsafe buildings — many of which are decades old — are finally getting the attention they need. MHADA, under Mr. Jaiswal’s leadership, is actively pushing for fast-track redevelopment plans for over 13,000 cessed buildings in Mumbai alone.

What Makes This Leadership Different?

IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal has always believed that good governance must be seen, felt, and experienced by the people. Some key changes he has brought in include:

  • Faster file clearance through digital systems
  • Clear timelines for redevelopment proposals
  • Public communication through letters, notices, and town halls
  • Use of GPS mapping and digital tracking to make progress transparent

“We want citizens to know what’s happening with their housing proposals. They should not have to run from office to office. That is not good governance,” Mr. Jaiswal said in a recent public address.

Using Technology for Better Governance

Under his guidance, MHADA is also building a digital document locker, where citizens will soon be able to check all their property papers — including lease agreements, approvals, and layout maps — from their phones or computers.

This initiative will reduce paper use, stop confusion over missing documents, and make the system more trustworthy for residents and societies.

Focus on the Common Man

What sets Sanjeev Jaiswal apart is his consistent focus on the needs of the common man. In his past roles as Municipal Commissioner of Thane and CEO of MIDC, Mr. Jaiswal has always pushed for public services that are simple, timely, and honest.

In MHADA too, his goal is to make housing not just accessible but also respectful. “Redevelopment is not just about new buildings. It’s about giving families a safe and better life,” he stated.

A Step Toward a Better Future

With rising urban pressure and aging infrastructure, Mumbai needs strong leaders who can turn policy into real change. IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal’s work reflects a growing belief that government offices must serve the people, not scare them.

As redevelopment picks up speed under his leadership, thousands of families are now hopeful of safer homes, better services, and a government that listens.

MHADA’s path forward is clear: Build faster, build better, and build together — all under a system that respects time, trust, and transparency.
