When cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore was presented in a Dhaka court last month, his brother was shocked to see his situation, Kabir looked quite weak and scared.

Kishore told his brother Ehsaan that he was tortured in custody. Unknown people were forcibly taken from his home in the last days of May. Then the corona infection in the country was at its peak.

Information about 45-year-old Kabir's detention was not received by his family for several days.

After this he came to know that Kabir has been arrested for his involvement in anti-national activities and spreading rumors.

The court refused to grant bail to the juvenile six times. Until finally granted bail, Kishore had spent ten months in jail under the infamous 'The Digital Security Act' (DSA).

Kishore considers himself lucky

Due to the restrictions of the Corona epidemic, his family could not meet him in jail.

The identity of the people who picked up Kabir from the house is still not clear, so how they reached the police station in Dhaka remains a mystery.

Favor Kabir told the BBC, "My brother has an injury to his left ear and is unable to walk properly. The doctors have also asked him to have an operation for his right ear."

Despite all this, the teenagers consider themselves lucky that they are alive. In this case, the writer Mushtaq Ahmed, who was arrested last year, was less lucky.

Mushtaq Ahmed died in jail a week before Kishore got bail.

After his death, protests were witnessed across the country. Social workers demanded the government to withdraw the merciless law.

On the other hand, according to officials, there was nothing suspicious in the death of Mushtaq Ahmed.

Recently, incidents of kidnapping of some other people have also come to light. In March last year, photo journalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol was forced into a van by some unknown people. For the next 53 days, his family had no news about him, after which he met hundreds of kilometers from his house on the border with India. His eyes were bandaged and his hands were tied.
