I am the worst housewife ever!
I am quite organised in online marketing but in household matters it is just the opposite. I hate cleaning and I do not like cooking. My favorite recipes are those that i can prepare in 5 minutes.We have lived in Germany for a while. We rented a house from the Dutch Air force who had a base there. One day the door bell rang and there was a painter at the door. "Madam", he said (of course he said it in German), "They have given me the task of the house rental cooperation to paint white the walls and sealing of your toilet". "OK", I said, "go right ahead". 5 minutes later he came into my living room. "Madam", he said, "Your toilet is full with spiders and spider webs!". "Just go back", I told him, "and paint the spiders and the webs white also". I will never forget the expression on that mans face!
Cooking: I can cook a decent meal but i don't like to do it. i spend as little time as possible cooking. I did spend more time on cooking when the children where little because i wanted them to eat healthy. It was good but never something really special. Amazing that one one of my son is now a cook and a good one too. One time he came in the kitchen when i was preparing soup. I was just crumbling the meatloaf in lumps above the soup pan. "Mom", he said, "Wkat are you doing?! You're supposed to make nice round little balls first from the meat loaf before you put them in the soup!" "Now, why should I do that", I replied, "the meat loaf tastes the same regardless if a make balls or lumps". For that reason I also never make meat balls. I have meat squares instead. I bake the whole package and than slice it.
Does my husband complain? Of course not. He is military. Which means:
- He is used to following orders
- he is used to byte the dust
- And he will eat anything!

Paula, this is too funny! It sure brings back memories of when I lived in Stuttgart in US Army housing back in the 80's. It was the best 5 years of my entire life and your story here has caused me to have a few giggles remembering that time...so thanks. Unlike you, I love to cook and would make the meatballs for the soup ;-)---but, I do like the sound of your method and will file it for future use.

Love it! Paula, I'm just like you...HATE to clean and I don't really like to cook. When I was young and single(!), I used to eat out with friends. But since I've been married, I do make the effort to cook. But my hubby sometimes complains that I cook the same things too often! But he LOVES my spaghetti...I make my spaghetti sauce with ground beef...NOT rolled into meatballs, but just crumbled and mixed into the sauce! Great minds think alike :D

@Cindy What are Critters? I have a bid dog and 3 cats. They all decided to drop their hair. I should vacuum clean twice a day. But I don't. LOL

There are not many spiderwebs in my house. There couldn't be, we have a woman who comes every 2 weeks to clean the house. Thank God we can afford that. :)
What that woman cannot do, is put things in their right places. If she tried, she would all 4 hours doing so. I am a master procrastinator for house chores.

I warned my husband before we married that I would never become or want to become, a good housewife. He did not mind that. I guess that is true, he is still here. I met him when I was 16, now I am 53 so he will probably stick around despite the spider webs

Hey paula, we have even more in common than I thought! lol
I am perfectly capable of keeping a really nice clean house and cooking fabulous meals, however I have never been the sort of housewife who gets up every morning and cleans right through before preparing breakfast for the family! with me it just sort of builds up till I someone is coming to visit, or I actually notice it myself at which point everything is thoroughly cleaned and forgotten again for a week or 2.
