What is a business anyway?
This is the questions that haunts eveyone who makes the conscience decision to join the business world. I don't mean what kind of business, like house painter or plummer. I mean just what is involved in creating and running a business. Well, as I see it there are three (3) steps. Step one is a question: sales or service. Sholud I sell a product or perform a serveice for someome, think accounting or advertising. Step two (2) is the question: where, or how can I get, or do the job cheaply. These stepd are relativly easy, and we find hundreds of "guru's" to guide us. Ahh, but step three (3) is by far the hardest. It is the question: where do I get customers? That question has perplexed even the most seasoned business person. Sorry dear friends, I don't have a "one size fits all" answer to it. But, I can tell you that I will be working on it, and will glady share what I discover.

Kevin, I recommend that you look for and read Sean's blogs here. They are very well written and informative. Also, look at the business plan product on his profile. I haven't bought it yet, because I'm out of cash, but I will buy it for sure, knowing Sean recommends it.

It's All Up to YOU! Act NOW!
Hi Sean, you are right about step 3. The point I was trying to make is that even if you identify them, how do you find, and then reach them.

Hi Phillipe, the point of my last post was mananger who don't want to keep learning about their business, and their industry. I've had the displeasure of working for many of these. They think they know everything, can't teach them anything new. So they are the most surprised when the competition runs them over.

Hi Kevin
Although there may be no stock answer or one size fits all, there are fundemental principles that if adhered to will define the success or failure of any business, and as for step three a detailed marketing plan should define your target customer group and marketing activities

Hi Kevin,
Ask the business owners who lost everything in the past thanks to Google changing the SEO rules all the time if they feel they made dumb mistakes.
It is easy to blame management. Don't forget, though, you and me and all these other people being here, we're trying to make a living online. As such, we are the CEOs of our own businesses. Who will you blame when you lose money ? I'm not saying you will. Chances are, in business as in life, there are times we win, other times we lose.

Most companies fail not because of inexorable shifts in market conditions but because of dumb mistakes made by senior managers. The biggest mistake of all: a hubristic unwillingness to accept that there's plenty you don't already know. "Learning is a lifelong sport. The minute you stop, you die," Mike Figliuolo.

HHCTB?
Hi Kevin, I have to agree there is no one size fits all when it come to getting customers.
I hope you don't mind but I would like to add my 2 cents to your post.
It is all about list building.
I am not looking for customers, I am looking for people who have things in common with me. I do not go looking for customers.
It is all about this wonderful business called.... marketing.
You should be marketing YOU...your #1 product
If it is a service or an actual product
You should be marke
