Pestering members on Chat is not a professional approach
I have noticed some members on Apsense who pester me on Online Chat to join their program and click their links.
I believe this is not a good idea and a professional approach in marketing your business. A business network like Apsense is a platform where you communicate with the other members by sharing your ideas and knowledge about a subject that you are comfortable in sharing.

When you share useful information with members, naturally they would have confidence in you and your business. Members would be eager to know what business you are involved in and if it is interesting they may join you.
Do you agree with me friends?

My way of opposing something that I don't like is through my writings and I had enough of pestering over here. But this turned out to be a very hot topic.
@Katrina, Thanks. There is no better way in dealing with such people

I too, have disabled my chat. It was disturbing my focus on tasks I was involved in. If people want to build a relationship with me my branding is all over the traffic exchanges. I attend training conferences to learn promoting, graphics and promoting and networking. I contact APSense people at IMFaceplate to come home. Why, because I think it is an awesome relationship building program.

"Habitual spammers", that brings so many other adjectives to mind :) Cheryl, you should revive your wonderful and VERY funny article about the names we had found for the different spamming techniques, it was hilarious :D

Yes we do, Michael. Members can report spam through the Report abuse link attached to every comment on the site. They get 'suspensions' for lack of a better word-their account is limited to read only. Habitual spammers have their accounts permanently limited.

Absolutely! Slam the door on spammers. Does Apsense have any penalties (credit fines, evictions) for this kind of activity?

Very good post. And no, it is not very professional to use the chat for pasting links. I have it on (invisable when I am busy) mainly to refer members to a group with info about Apsense and Apsense rules. Lol, I have 2 messages at hand to respond that i use 99 out of 100 times. Please join my group ....for more info AND stop spamming me with your links, I never join anything trough links pasted in chat.

Its about time this issue of pestering via chat was brought to the fore. Chatting is for, well, just chatting. Please do let the business come after that - and that is after a request from someone who is interested in your business and requests more information...

I don't ever chat at APSense. Neither do I anywhere else, unless it's with people I've chosen to chat with, cause I prefer to do social networking instead of social not working :)

Sometimes I reply back with:
How long have you been marketing online?
How long have you been in your current program?
How do you currently market your program?
Are you upgraded or just a freebie seeker?
I don't care how much your sponsor had made, how much do you make...
Currently?
How does the comp plan work?
How often do you get paid and how? PP or AP? Check?
How do you support your referrals? Webinars? Phone? Email? Skype?
Usually I don't get an answer after that. :-)

It was so annoying I turned it off.
My Friend Cheryl told me how.
Thank you Cheryl.

It's a sad fact that this happens, but with every use of something there are people who will abuse it.
The social networks are like one big party and well, there are alwyas party poopers, but if the spammers would think of themselves as perople running up to everyone at the party with a contract and a pen and paper in hand I think they'd get the message.
Thanks for all the comments above, many made me laugh.

Right on! This is a social network for business minded individuals. Apsense offers so many ways to put your offers in front of the members that it's pointless to just run around pushing a link. It's really irritating to just see things like:
Here's my link I know you'll love it too.
Well how would you know if you don't know me?
This is a great article post. Keep it up! :-)
Down with spammers!
