The 90 day Rule

The 90 day Rule is something I was told about many years ago by a marketing excecutive from Proctor Gamle . basically it is; that most people become blind to adverts and campaigns after 90 days, I have used this rule succcessfully in both my online and offline businesses and to date it has always been effective for me.
So if your results are falling off maybe people are no longer registering your ads or campaigns and its time for a change.
Even a small change can make a great difference, and remember its good to be different.

Hi Paula, the 90 days is the mean average of time taken before ads and campaigns can become ineffective, reseach was done by the marketing institute, in the 70's, and my own experiences bear it out, obviously if many people use the same campaign it may be a lot sooner, thats why being a little bit different can bring better results Nov 2nd 2010 04:05 |

I use some self made splashes and banners for some programs. I would like to create more but it is rather time consuming. However worth the effort. I only wish there were more hours in a day. Nov 2nd 2010 04:19 |

I love days like today. It's great when I learn something I didn't know that I can put to good use. Time to design some new splash pages, I think. Nov 2nd 2010 05:48 |

90 days seems to be the cycle. Also with 'tasks' It's said that a person seriously focus on a single task for 90 days. I use this in my own personal writing. I can give one of my stories my attention and write effectively for 90 days before the ideas stop flowing smoothly then I have to take a break. Nov 2nd 2010 08:19 |

No wonder there's a failure with some of my advertising, it's stale! Nov 15th 2010 06:57 |

90 days is a good rule of thumb! Before I read this post I had just suggested to my team that they update their ads every 90 days! Doesn't hurt to update profile and signature ads either! Nov 15th 2010 12:05 |
I knew that about the blindness but I did not know that occurs after about 90 days. Has there been a research that led to this conclusion? Does it apply for all advertsing? Does the blindness not come sooner if everybody is using the promotion materials liks splashpages and banners?
