Yes the FTC is a wonderful site to prevent, fraud, prevent identity theft and protect consumers from unfair business practices. That is simply one of the many press releases/speeches you can find there. To truly see all the great resources available for both consumers and businesses visit the main site at www.ftc.gov Oct 27th 2010 16:32 |

I might add Cheryl, that international members should make use of the info, most of the information availble at the FTC is applicable to all countries. They give excellent info. regardless of where you stay, you can learn something there. Oct 27th 2010 16:46 |

FTC.gov is not only a great tool for Americans, but when dealing with Internet laws most nations mirror the same laws we have passed here. The exception is some nations such as Singapore only consider running a scam a crime if the victim is one of their citizens. If a citizen of Singapore scams someone from there they go to jail but if they scam a Canadian they do not, Indonesia has similar laws as does Somalia and that is why these are hotbeds of piracy and Internet scams. The FTC Site not only provides law access, but also easy to reach descriptions of the scams as well. Another great resource set are the FBI Cyber Crimes unit and the Cyber Crimes unit for Interpol. Most of the FTC site information was written for consumers so more of the information should be pretty clear. Oct 27th 2010 19:06 |
