About accepting contacts: to accept or not to accept.

Since i am still very busy setting up all kinds of stuff until now I have just accepted every contact request.
Today i refused the first one, a person who confused a social network with a dating site.
Sometimes I look at the profiles but also may times I did not, thinking as long they don't spam me, they don't bother me + it is good to build a large network.
But now I think it might be better to check them out. Today it occurred to me there can be members in my contacts who promote scams or misusing this site for purposes it is not intended for and other things I do not want to be associated with.
Especially the part of having contacts that promote scams or ponzi pyramid scemes. This of course can be just ignorance or stupidity or they know and still promote it. That is a difference i think.
I would like to have some feedback on this issue.

Hi I normally give everyone the benefit of the doubt meaning I will accept them all since I can always go back and block them. But the Romance scammers do pop up now and then. As I stated in the other post it was one of those idiots that spurred the change to testimonials allowing us to control what gets posted as a testimonial.

Don't automatically assume that it was confusion that lead this person here. All social sites are their trolling ground. When you get one of those report it, they have no business on the site and need to be removed.

I too except all requests, like Cheryl stated you can always block them when a specific person turns out to be a spammer or a scammer.
I even had scammers sign up through my link at APSense, we have no control over that, but i got them booted out real quick when i saw what they where all about.
I still add everybody who wants to add me, you never know, one of those blank profiles can tomorrow turn out to be a very good contact and friend. It sometime takes time for the newbies to realise how important a profile setup is.

I don't have time to check anyone's profile before accepting him. I simply accept blindly.

What the harm may be done by my followers so that I need to deny?

I will block them when they start sending me spam links, I may not contact all of my contacts all the time but I do try to make it through during the holidays just to say Happy holidays. Over on 2.0 I will stop by with birthday greetings.

Apart from that guy who posted a link in a testimonial, I don't see that it's a problem to accept everyone. Those who keep spamming can be blocked or reported.

It's just plain EASY to 'delete' unwanted e-mails, testimonials & you'd have to look at a 'contact request' before making a 'yea or neigh' decision.....

Just because 'you' don't like what you see is hardly a reason to have someone REMOVED from a social networking site.....

People who 'Judge' others are themselves 'Judged' in proportion to their degree of judgement.

Actually Harold spam IS illegal. The spammers are either going to stop spamming or they will be removed. they will be removed not because of anyone judging them but because of their own illegal activity.

APSense has a pretty good reputation when it comes to controlling spam. I for one have no desire to see it degenerate in another Spam board where people do nothing but toss links at each other. I like the idea of actually communicating and that is what happens here.

The spammers can either get with the program or get to stepping

True, Cheryl; but, how do you identify SPAM, or SPAMMING?
