Solutions to Fix Windows PC doesn’t
recognize the second GPU
The causes behind this issue could be many including the
dedicated graphics card having failed or a problem with the drivers, and so on.
Try the following solutions as mentioned below to resolve the issue:
#Solution1: Update the Graphics
driver
A chief reason behind the dedicated graphics card might not be
working is that the associated driver sometimes gets corrupt or outdated. So,
we first need to update the Graphics driver to solve this issue. There is yet a
different way, and that is to install driver downloads for your system on the
internet. After that, search for the driver name on the site.
#Solution2: Update the BIOS
The issue could occur when the Basic input/output system (BIOS)
is obsolete. Thus, you need to update the BIOS. You can download the latest
version of your system’s BIOS from the system manufacturer’s website.
#Solution3: Change the GPU settings
Right-click anyplace on the Desktop screen and click on the
Graphics properties. Your Graphic Properties screen depends on the graphics
drivers installed on your device and is consequently system specific. You need
to keep in mind that these settings could vary for different systems, but they
can be found easily by putting some efforts.
In the Display section, under the Select Display drop-down, you
need to select the dedicated Graphic card as the default. If you fail, re-select
it, re-click Apply and exit.
#Solution4: Turn off the driver for
the integrated graphic card
- Press Win + R key
simultaneously to open the Run window,
- Type the command
“devmgmt.msc.” in the field.
- C lick Enter to open
the Device Manager.
- After that, expand
the list of Display Adapters.
- Select Disable
device for the Integrated Graphic Card by right-clicking on it.
However, in case the dedicated graphics card also fails, the
display will stop working. In such a situation, you are recommended to
restarting the system and turning the integrated graphics card on again.
