Why is ACP Cladding design such a Designer’s delight?

by Swetha So Analyst

Aluminum Composite Panel or ACP is a coming of age material that’s employed for building interior applications, exteriors, and signage. It is quite available in a broad range of shades and finishes like wood, dual-tone, stone, etc. It can be twisted, folded and turned into forms that could not be attained by any other material. Hence, ACP has more freedom of design and is thus a designer’s delight.

The bottom and the top layers of acp sheet are covered with aluminium sheets and the core sandwiched between them is polyethylene. The following are the components of an aluminium sheet:

Protection Film,

PVDF/Polyester Resin-Based Coating,

Primer Coating (used in case of PVDF only),

Aluminium Coil,

Adhesive Film (Polyolefin),

Polyethylene Core (LDPE),

Adhesive Film (Polyolefin),

Aluminium Coil,

Service Coating (Anti-corrosive).

No material is as bendable as Aluminium Composite Panel, and it can give rise to designs which are either very hard or hopeless with other materials. This present-day material allows for a host of technical and practical advantages over time-honored and other materials. It is superficial as it is pliable and easy to toil with. It’s easily installable and can be installed real fast. It’s imperishable with easy maintenance and available at affordable costs. It also offers a broader difference in colors and textures.

The acp sheet is not only for building exteriors like façade, canopy, and fascia but also for a range of interior applications as well such as internal wall covering, false ceiling, modular kitchen, wardrobe, tabletop, you name it. In the corporate sector too, it is one of the chosen materials for innovative and classy signage, fascia and other corporate identity design solutions.

Methods in ACP Cladding design

Aluminium composite acp cladding system or ACP is usually a metal curtain wall system. ACP is made from light aluminum with solid insulation. The acp cladding is employed for outermost cladding, pillar covers, canopies and fascias, interior wall and partition panels, parapets, false ceilings, louvers, and sunshades.

Dependable and unique, the exterior wall cladding collection gives very effective weather protection. Produced in laminate presses under high pressure, at high temperature, is one of the very best rainscreen facades out there.

ALPOLIC/fr is widely used for external claddings and some interior surfaces, while ALPOLIC is used

mainly for signage. Both materials are also used for civil works and other miscellaneous applications.

In order to install Aluminum Composite Materials (ACM) in these applications, many advanced

methods have been proposed and improved on for years. We will introduce some of the most common

methods suitable for ALPOLIC/fr and ALPOLIC below.

1. External wall cladding - wet sealant joint

This installation system, with tray type (rout and return) panels and sealing joints, is one of the most

common methods and it is available for a wide range of new buildings and renovation projects.

2, External wall cladding - hanging method

The hanging system is also one of the most common fixing methods. It is easy to loosen the

movement due to thermal expansion/contraction with this method because panels are not tightly

fastened to the sub-frame but are simply suspended.
